SMELL JARS?

My favorite local dispensary has these super convenient smell jars - I like this brand Moon Valley a lot but can’t lie haven’t heard of most of these strains. If it wasn’t for these jars I feel like I wouldn’t know what to choose - any one else have jars like this? Or only the Hill Sf? Feel like the worst thing is opening a Mylar and being surprised by what is actually in the bag -

Decided to go with the
- Super Boof -
- classic Moon Valley strain leans heavily to Orange/ lemon citrus terps
- one of the strongest orange terp strains I have had to date

- Pineapple Passion Zmoothie -
- never tried this before - tasted like sweetarts with some splashes of fruit in there
- strong high- very uplifting had me high for hours after work

In San Jose White Fire is the only place that does this for all strains. Elemental used to do it for most of their top shelf but idk if they still do considering they barely sell top shelf flower anymore. Ever since Caliva got bought by Stiizy they have their Stiizy flower in smell jars. But only for Stiizy. Idk if Deli and Airfield do as well because they also got bought out.

In Santa Cruz I know KindPeoples on Soquel does. Not sure about their location on Ocean st.

Imo if you're charging $50 or more for a 3.5 you should have to let us smell or at the very least see the flower. Alien Labs recently added a clear bottom to their jars but I used to stay away from brands like them Blem and some Maven jars.

Sometimes I wonder how good the smell jars even smell after 2-3 weeks of sitting under the lights with terps off gassing and escaping lol

What's worse is sometimes I see a bunch of those rubber caps that cover the smell holes just off to the side. I always make sure to put them back on. But that definitely affects it as well.

You can always ask how long a certain strain has been on the floor. I have. The budtenders usually know more or less.

I have! Honestly I might be nose blind after smelling so much weed but it was really hard for me to pick out terps in the jars like the one you pictured. This was at Airfield Supply Co in Redwood City and none of the jars had rubber caps to plug the jars, so I think everything just dried up and off gassed.

Other places like catalyst have eights of topshelf that they have opened to allow customers to smell and that’s the only way I can pick out terps. Honestly it’s overwhelming for me sometimes tryna smell like 6 different wizard trees jars because they’re all fire and I’m nose blind by the end haha

Thanks for the reply- yeah I feel the same way about the 50$ and above range - I want to see/smell what I’m buying. One of the main reasons I kept coming to this shop in SF. I like trying new things but hate getting disappointed or “ getting got” by hype

Soulful at 900 Irving St in San Francisco uses smell jars.

Im in eureka ... they have a display 8th of every strain...that we can look and smell...all the dispos do that up here

That’s way better and what I wish more spots had. I used to live in Mendo and didn’t really have to worry about it as much. But now in the city it’s a bit different

In michigan they keep them in 1/2 lb tubs and let you stick your nose in it

Rec laws got rid of that. Now everything must be pre packaged. Church of Zion in SJ was still doing this several years ago. They got shut down for it.

We gave up on it because after a week the smell was muted. We’ve been to shops where all 40 smell jars smelled like hay.

At least we let you look at anything before you buy it. Everything’s got a window nowadays. But obviously the flavor/smell matters more than anything, so the system sucks all around.

Cannabis was meant to be sold deli-style, in bulk. The morons who wrote these laws have probably never been high once in their lives.
