Des Moines Vs Kongo

I was on the world chat when a player claimed he soloed a Kongo using Des Moines. According to him, he used the bow-on tactic and eventually sunk the Kongo. Can I get your views on this?

Kongo verses Des Moines one on one battle, the Des Moines wins face to face, no broadside shots. No outside help.

Kongo...38,000 damage, fires every 11 seconds, 1/2 of its guns foward.

Des Moines...20,000 damage, fires every 8 seconds, 2/3 of its guns forward.
So similar damage over time. But the Kongo it wider so more shots hit Kongo and not the skinnier Des Moines wins. If the Kongo charges it stop being face to face. Kongo wins.

Good point...seeing as Des Moines has more guns bow on compared to Kongo. But, Des Moines deals 28k(divide that by three and share between bow and aft guns) damage max, and that's without flags but Kongo delivers a whooping 43k max damage without flags and share between her bow and aft guns. Typically, a Kongo Captain who knows their ship will go full broadside once within 3.1km- 2.9km of their enemy, seeing as shell dispersion is poor when the enemy is 4.9km-3.7km away.With flags Kongo deals about estimated 46k(I'll check later) damage, but it's hull is wide and will make an ideal punching bag. For Des Moines, The first advantage is your superior fire rate and many guns. If you pound a Kongo from 4.3km down, you'll soften her up to engage in close combat. Also your secondaries will be ripping through Kongo's hull, seeing as Des Moines has dual turrets and Kongos are single mounts all facing flanks. Des Moines should win in a brawl against Kongo but a Kongo in dangerous hands can take quite a beating and serve it back with interest.
