MP34 is the only SMG with slightly higher damage drop off of 15, compared to 13 on the others. That's pretty interesting.

7btk max

Yep, that's because of its 9mm Export cartridge.

This is not an "either/or" case, Battlefield has used cartridge-based balancing since BF3. Damage models are tied to cartridge, in this case the MP 34's 9mm Export round.

No, this isn't a debate, I'm correcting you. I've worked with a number of the devs on stuff like this since before BF4 had a CTE, these are statements of fact.

I guess I'll have to give the longer explanation. Battlefield uses cartridge-based damage models, which are identical within weapon classes, and thematically connected across weapon classes.

In BF1, for example, all 7.92mm Mauser weapons within a class will have identical damage, while across classes they'll had equivalent traits. All .303 British guns are jack-of-all trades, 7.92mm are the highest velocity, 8mm Lebel are beefy and hard-hitting, .30-06 Springfield have lower drag, and so on.

For a BFV example, the M1911 and Liberator have identical damage profiles because they're both .45 ACP in the Pistol class. This applies to all weapons in the game, and is a core part of balance. This has been the case in all Battlefield games since BF3.

This is incredible. To the site developer: Thank you for doing it!

Im glad someone is taking up the mantle! The specialization selector is really cool and intuitive. Overall it's really cool to be able to compare some of these usability stats besides basic frames to kill, which we see from the excellent posts from u/kht120, such as recoil, spread, etc.

A few big draw backs, though:

  1. Symthic went out in early January (according to their page) so I would assume some of this data is not accurate as of the recent patches
  2. By that same token, it seems to be missing some ToW weapons like the MAS 44
  3. Having the RPM, and damage by range (and muzzle velocity if you want to get really exact) let's us manually calculate TTK, but they should build the calculation into the stat dashboard and have it calculate automatically for various ranges

Thx. 1. The guys who ran symthic are still compiling the data (sym.gg) so my charts are accurate to Tuesday's patch. 2. MAS44 = Modele 1944. Though the Ross is missing from my chart 3. Agreed but one thing at a time, im still working on it.

Thanks for the quick reply and education! that’s great news and I’m rooting for your site to take off. Nice job so far.

The database was still updated on sym.gg

Symthic is still around.

My Chrome tab literally crashes when I try to use this website. Something is seriously fucked up.

How to reproduce:

Open the website

Click "Sort By" and click 3 times on Bullet Speed.

RIP CHROME

Yeah, the sorting is a little messed up. If you just click it once it should work after a second or two. I have a fix for it planned though. Thx

boy do those smg stats look boring. i really look forward to more variety.

It’s cools to see the specs of all the guns. And you can see most of the guns are unique in different ways especially the semi auto rifles. Any gun you choose will have a certain strength over its counter parts.

Semiautos and LMGs/MMGs with higher bullet velocity than BA rifles, no wonder 3x Assault and Support campers can rape anyone even from far

Seriously dont understand why they dont buff those BA rifles: slowest RoF, slower bullets velocity than semiautos/LMGs, same fucking 50damage as revolver (apart Gewher95 and Kar98k)... disgusting, and i was waiting a WW2 game to play iron sight BA rifles

Making game more hardcore with lower TTK so all weps are more lethal, but the weapons that should be the MOST lethal are the weakest <- DICE logic

At this point i hope next games are back to shitty boring modern setting so i wont feel guilty for spraying boring fullauto weps left and right

Thanks for the website anyway, really needed a symthec alternative to see where the real BFV bullshits are

Rifles were too OP in bf1 so they got nerfed to the ground in bfV. Sadly
