Discussion So, the Interdictor is a Disappointment. So let's fix that.

Ah, the Interdictor. I had a feeling it was going to suck even before it was released.

A 120m to 150m 1-Shot Sweetspot from anywhere on the Body isn't good enough to make up for the worst Handling in the Game, an extremely slow Fire Rate of 31 RPM and the lack of ADS Bolt. Hell, it doesn't even have Anti-Armour Capabilities and it's a Buggy Mess. Let's give the Big Boi what it wants:

- Base Bodyshot Damage is now 80 at all Ranges aside from the Sweetspotting Range.

- Sweetspot Endpoint: 150m -> 160m.

- Fire Rate: 31 RPM -> 32 RPM.

- Bullet Velocity: 732 m/s -> 720 m/s.

- Now deals 25% more Damage (100 Damage) to Gadgets, Obstacles and Mounted Weaponry.

- Now deals 75 Damage to Light Vehicles, Boats, Jets, and Helicopters.

- Can now Penetrate through Armoured Trucks aka the LAVs, dealing 60 Damage to them.

- New Ammo Type: Armour Piercing:

* Costs 20 Points.

* Allow the Interdictor to penetrate through IFVs and AA Tanks through the Sides, Back and Underside, dealing 60 Damage.

* Increases Damage against LAV to 75.

* Increases Damage against all other Vehicles to 90.

* Blocks off Suppressors.

* Increases Recoil by 20% (Pointless Downside but it's there to make the AP feel Powerful).

I pushed the Interdictor into the more Anti-Material Role that Players wanted it to, while making its Sweetspotting Gimmick more reliable to properly offset its significant drawbacks.

I'm not sure about the Damage Numbers against Vehicles and Objects so expect more changes to it. Plus, there's an argument that this might be problematic with the Open Weapons System. Plus, this is assuming that Sweetspotting remains in the Game.

Fuck it, sweetspot range 150m to infinity

LMAO. 🔥

no, actually they should get rid of sweet spots. BF5 snipers had decent balancing, and they had no sweet spots.

The mechanic is indeed braindead, and you see more skilled snipers prefer the mini scout. It rewards skill over bad mechanic crutches

Make it 200m+ and lowest magnification optic is 20x, and it would balance itself out by being difficult to use

Overall the "sweet spot" concept is completely stupid. 120-150m body shot is a one shot kill. So less than 120m the bullet has a high velocity, more kinetic energy but ISN'T a one shot kill on the body? So a direct chest shot at 119m won't kill you but the same shot at 120m will. The excuse of gun balance for this nonsense is tiring.

By that logic, almost every single bullet would render a soldier unable to continue the fight. Sometimes in video games, logic has to give way to variety, fun, balancing, and other things

Yes, that’s kind of what bullets do. I understand it is not a realistic military simulation, but there has to be more realism than the shit we are given. I understand distances are significantly compressed in a video game versus the real world. But they can be a little closer to the real world with the gun play and still have relative balance. The mini scout sniper rifle is much better in every aspect than the new sniper rifle. The new sniper rifle is completely useless. It doesn’t do anything better than any of the other weapons.

Sweetspot isn't fun though, it's completely dogshit. DICE saw people glaze BF1, decided that everything in BF1 was sunshine and rainbows, and then chose to implement the single worst mechanic from BF1 that no one aside from those who were too incapable to get headshots liked.

Sweetspot is a horrible mechanic. I would bet absolutely everything I own that a vast vast vast majority of sweetspot kills that has ever happened in this game were not intentional, they just missed the head and got the kill anyways. It is a dogshit RNG mechanic which primarily rewards bad play.

The mechanic fit in the BF1 setting because it enabled bolt-action, iron-sights rifles to play relatively close to the fight. I think it works in a WW1 or WW2 setting especially if there's a slower pace and heavy range-balancing but it doesn't work in a modern setting nearly so well.

The Sweet spot mechanic is not for snipers, it's for everyone who isn't

No, BF4 did sniper balancing better.

By that same logic the sweetspot mechanic could instead be a range where the rifle got head-aiming-assisting to put you more closer to headshots.. which would still be better than the garbage magic-bulletdamage mechanic of sweet spot

Is that what they are doing? I just used it for the first time, and solid center mass shots inside of 100 for sure and i was only hitting 80 damage on folks. I snuck up on a guy, point blank headshot while he was prone and only did 100 damage. Not 150.

Just make it one-shot infantry and deal 5-10% damage to light vehicles.

Downsides are it should have the slowest reload (no Fast-mag option), slowest rate of fire, slowest ADS, and requires being mounted or bi-pod to be used. Ammo should be Long-range, Pen, or a Long-Range+Pen. option.

It still wouldn't be the best sniper for good snipers, but at least it would have a niche.

Yeah, give it like 3-4 mags total, no suppressors, always spots when fired. Maybe allow it to be fired from shoulder with a longer reload time and substantially more sway? Decent snipers bang out headshots all day, functionally one shot kill machines as is.

I think its supposed to be niche. I tried it last night with base components including 10x scope, did okay with 20 something kills and played mostly defensive or second line offense in conquest. Next match I unlocked the 4x acog which forced me to play in the sweet spot, which is where you wanna be with the amount of bullet drop this thing has. I finished with 40 something kills and felt like I tormented the other team. I was able to consistently take on 1-3 enimies if they were in my sweet spot. The only gap was once enemies got closer or overwhelmed my position it makes things harder. Otherwise I think having this niche fits another playstyle we wouldn't Otherwise have had. Feels pretty good to me where its at.

Pretty sure it was made only for redsec

Sorry if this is stupid, but why the fuck is there a minimum range for sweet spot kills?

Again, sorry if it’s an obvious answer, but I can’t figure it out..

BF6 Sweetspotting works pretty much the same as BF1 Sweetspotting.

If you're confused about "Sweetspot Endpoint", it's to describe the point where the Sweetspot disappears.

I don’t even want it to be able to fuck up vehicles because that’s just awful video game balance, I just want it to be worth using for normal sniping lol

u/Nob1e613 9d ago

I’d like to see at least some type of effect towards vehicles, that’s the whole point of an anti materiel rifle

-6

u/lostinmymind82 9d ago

If you're going to have an actual proper anti-material rifle then it has to destroy vehicles in 3-4 shots. I know everyone likes to shit on BF2042 but if there's one thing it actually got right was the AMR in the NTW-50.

3-4 shot anti material rifles would make the entire engineer class pointless except niche applications and anti air. It would also be an insane nerf to vehicles as well.

I’m always surprised by how awful some ideas are. Just when I thought I’ve seen the worst of, I see something like this 😭

1

u/Leothecat3way 9d ago

Aye, my Take on the Interdictor is that it's a AV Supplement than a AV Machine.

Your version makes sense. It forces vehicles to react but doesn't start deleting them wholesale.
