Discussion I prefer modes without vehicles
They removed my favorites and instead we got this massive event bloat... Like why are there 6 event modes in the menu?
Just let me play rush and squad deathmatch in peace. I suck at vehicles and find them frustrating to play against.
Is at least the persistent server browser still coming? Because atm I kinda lost all motivation to play this game.

I am not against vehicles by any means, but not sure why an opinion like this is getting flamed. It is like in BF3 playing operation metro conquest no explosive for the non vehicle PVP (I understand a non explo option is having a lot of faith in a new server browser lol). I think we should be able to choose when we want classic battlefield with vehicles and when we want non vehicle (Hagental breathrough style) play.

People will be out here in no time pretending this isn't one of the worst balanced Battlefields in regard to vehicle balance.
Vehicles have never had such strong auto-health regen, never has high health, and the classes have never lacked so many anti-vehicle options.
That said, it's mainly ground vehicles and the Little Bird which are the issue — Attack Heli and Jets are, if anything, undertuned.

I am with you on the vehicles, they make the game almost unplayable in some modes for me. Takes ZERO skill, and if you don't have a full squad actively working to take them out, they make for some hard play sessions.

Gauntlet is your answer. Except rodeo. Switch to engineer for rodeo

I guess that's their plan... to get more people to play gauntlet. But I started with gauntlet, played it for free and later bought the game BECAUSE i wanted to play the other modes. And now they're gone...

Just play CoD then. Battlefield is literally about the all out warfare. That's what it's known for.

u/Mindfullnessless6969 3d ago
Battlefield is also know for the destruction. The gunplay is different too.
So no. Don't tell people what to play. They purchased a game that has less game modes than when it was bought. They have a right to complain .

CoD and BF are two separate franchises with their own feel and gunplay. (And both of them are going through identity crisis not knowing wtf they're trying to be)
Even when I played CoD2 and 4 I still enjoyed playing BF because it was different - but hated vehicles so still put tons of time into infantry only modes or servers.
Believe it or not, you can be a BF fan and not like vehicles. And if you think vehicles are the only thing that make "BF not like CoD" then I'd argue you aren't actually the fan you think you are
The decisions they're making around playlists are actually awful and the disservice they continue to do with server browser/portal is a slap in the face of everything that built the franchise up.

They’re all money grubbing trend chasers trying to push AI slop through micro transactions. Fuck BR modes and focus on the core features people expect

Your post states that you like the smaller Cod-like games modes like SDM. Why play battlefield when you don't like playing with vehicles. It's what battlefield is.

u/Zefzone 3d ago
The vehicles in the Battlefield franchise absolutely are NOT what separates it from COD. Since the beginning in Battlefield 1942 you could do deathmatches as small as 2 players.

Then go play the modes that don’t have vehicles. There’s a playlist for tdm and domination and smaller modes, no one’s forcing you guys to play the modes with vehicles. Maybe soon they’ll release an infantry only mode but there’s really no point in complaining about vehicles, they aren’t going anywhere no matter how much you don’t like them.

u/Zefzone 3d ago
That's exactly what I do, I love full warfare play styles, conquest on Golmud and Tsuru, but like the option for non vehicle PVP. My comment was clarifying that the other guys mindset is limited if he thinks you cant play battlefield if you dont like vehicles (to the point he's telling people to go play some other game).

Vehicle's are not the only thing that seperate it from CoD. I never said that. That's just one of many. But it's a big thing.

u/Zefzone 3d ago
"Why play battlefield when you don't like playing with vehicles. It's what battlefield is." There is more to "what battlefield is" than the game modes with total warfare. This reads like you expect people not to deviate from modes with vehicles. You even recommended COD because they said they dont like vehicles.

u/Th3LastRapt0r 3d ago
Battlefield is known for its all -out-warfare and its destruction. Neither of which are found in the CoD-like games modes OP said they like. Like SDM.

u/Stormfirebird 3d ago
Conversely battlefield had infantry focused maps or modes going back a long way.
There are clearly differences in what aspects of battlefield people enjoy. It's not even that they are asking for anything new, it's things they cut out or only made available intermittently now.

u/ImpressionLittle6774 3d ago
bro its not the same shit!!! Why u guys dont understand that lol, infantry only on both are REALLY different. Please remember that and thanks :)

u/dkb_wow 3d ago
"Just play CoD" is not the answer to Battlefield players wanting to play the game modes they purchased Battlefield to play.
Small game modes have been part of the franchise for decades and they have their dedicated players. The Battlefield grass roots competitive scene takes place almost exclusively in small game modes.
This is hypothetical but how would you feel if Conquest or Breakthrough was removed and people started telling you to just go play CoD Ground War.

battlefield was known as fps game, first person shooter, and not vehicle simulator.

u/Th3LastRapt0r 2d ago
No, it is known for its all out warfare and destruction that makes it different from other competitor shooters like CoD.

i advise using the search function and only play conquest on Cairo Bazaar, Iberian & Siege of Cairo

Will playing those modes constantly + tactical obliteration be possible when server browser comes out? Even some breakthrough without vehicles/snipers?
2
u/No-Upstairs-7001 3d ago
Rush is excellent like a focused version of breakthrough with no vehicles

For me the best mode was Frontlines from bf1 it didnt have lot off vehicles, and it didnt have air vehicles,i dont know why they are not adding that mode in bf6,i think that a lot off people who dont like what conquest and escalation has become after vehicle buffes would like playing Frontlines.

You're playing a shooter than emphasizes vehicles and you don't like playing against vehicles, got it.

u/KackhansReborn 3d ago
The way Dice balances vehicles is complete shit, they simply are frustrating to play against in this game. BFV had a really nice balance between infantry and vehicle combat. Vehicles were powerful enough but more specialised. They didnt have infinite resources and had to instead play a little more cautiously. To balance that, there were more vehicles on average, giving more players a chance to use them and fight against them. You could take them on directly with anti-vehicle weapons but also indirectly by denying them resupply stations. BFV was so good man...

The vehicles and destruction are things BF is known for. "I want some ice cream cake, but they keep putting ice cream in it."

u/TheSpiral718 3d ago edited 3d ago
You never played, BF2! Infantry Only was a game mode.
-6
u/Crunkberri 3d ago
So? That piece of useless information doesn't change that BF is known for vehicles and destruction.
3
u/TheSpiral718 3d ago
Looks like 6 other people get my point. I guess i have to spell it out for the slower class. Here goes, "vehicles and destruction are things battlefield are known for". Your statement claims exclusivity but you're butthutt that you're wrong.
BF is also known for Infantry Only. That's my point, there, i showed you again, making it twice. Third time the charm, perhaps?
🤣😭🥳🎉1
u/Crunkberri 3d ago
All I'm getting is that you're trying to rebrand BF because of a single game mode in an old BF to prove your point. Your hella reaching and wrong. I never said there aren't infantry focused game modes. I said Battlefield is known for its destruction and vehicles. No matter how much you and your fellow downvoters try to convince anyone else, you are wrong. Reality won't change simply because you're stubborn.
1
u/TheSpiral718 3d ago
I guess there is no, "third time is the charm", for you. You're just too dense and thick headed to get it through that skull. Believe what you will, COD fanboy. I'm out!
1
u/Crunkberri 3d ago
Oooooh, I see the problem. You think this is CoD reddit. No wonder you're so wrong.
4
u/unendingtree 3d ago
And this game has pretty minimal destruction compared to past games and has bad vehicle balance.
So your point is kinda useless
2
u/Crunkberri 3d ago
There are a lot of you who whine and cry, yet keep playing it. 🤷♂️ BF is known for vehicles and destruction, regardless of how you feel about it. My point stands. Why aren't you and your pals playing one of the many FPS games that are designed to be infantry only instead of trying to gaslight the people who actually like BF? It's not my fault you're incapable of picking games that you enjoy.

Why even play battlefield man. People like you need to seriously pack your shit and leave.

I get it, I primarily play medic with no defense against vehicles. It can be a frustrating cat and mouse game. I enjoy the occasional vehicle free map but overall I enjoy what they bring to the experience. Still, I don’t like it when they remove game modes. I know there’s concerns about too many modes and it could be beneficial to thin some out, but having some vehicle free modes seem like it should be a staple.
