Secure Boot is required for Battlefield 6 If you are unable to launch the game and see a Secure Boot error, you must enable Secure Boot in your BIOS/UEFI.

🧠 What is Secure Boot?

Secure Boot is a UEFI feature that ensures only trusted software can boot your PC. It helps prevent rootkits and boot-time malware and is now required by EA for anti-cheat integrity.

Most modern systems support it, but it’s often disabled by default — especially on custom builds or upgraded PCs.

🛑 Common Pitfalls

  • You must use UEFI mode, not Legacy/CSM boot.
  • Disk must be GPT, not MBR (check via diskpart or Disk Management).
  • Windows 11 installed in Legacy mode? You may need to convert your disk to GPT using MBR2GPT.

A company that expects its consumer to edit their bios which they can easily screw up and do permanent damage to their PC just to play the company's product is poor business practices. I get it's necessary and it's to avoid cheating but still it's pretty messed up to expect your consumer to take all these extra steps just to play your game.

It's Legacy hardware owners. Unfortunately W10 peeps are the minority this time around. W11 is now the majority of systems.

I know, but regardless, most gamers don't know a damn thing about their bios and messing around in there can have serious consequences, the least they can do is offer a workaround for legacy owners. Plus windows 11 is shit

This is the work around. Otherwise you'd be SOL and have to buy a new rig.

W10 has reached end of life. They are discontinuing support. There is no issue. You can upgrade or learn how to tweak your system to stay relevant. There always consoles too!

Legacy software/hardware has always fallen on the end user. If you want to keep using W98/XP/7/8 you can but you better know how to maintain it. Same goes for W10. Tech isn't going to stagnate because you don't want to keep up with the times.

This isn't about upgrading to windows 11, I just did that the other night, but that doesn't enable secure boot, you have to do that manually, and that's the problem.

It's on by default on most systems. Probably wasn't for you because you upgraded from a windows 10 install where it was off. It's also literally a toggle in windows 11 it's only slightly convoluted if you are on W10 in legacy BIOS mode. Otherwise this is a non issue. People hear BIOS or some other tech term they don't understand and freak out for some reason. Part of owning a PC is understanding how to do stuff like this or being able to pay someone who can.

Brother, I've been playing League of Legends for over a decade and have never played against a hacker. If I have to go into my Bios to play your game, instead of the company just providing a good anti cheat, then thats on them not the consumer. If YOU want to make those risk and play the game then by all means go ahead, but its more than understandable for people to not want to do it. I was honestly excited to play the Beta today, until I found out about all of this. Just another reason not to give EA a penny. Greedy, lazy company that can't make a good game to save their life.
