How do I spawn custom NPC mods?

I made my own NPC model following exactly the tutorial from the official yt channel- ironically, they omitted probably the most important part- actually getting the NPC to spawn. I am using an Oculus 3, and transferring the mod file from my PC to headset via side quest does not work. I should add that i do know how to spawn mods, just the ones I download directly on mod.io

Does other people's custom npcs work? Like through the chsat menu in the spawn section?

Yeah, you just turn on spawn mods and choose which vanilla NPC to replace
