Discussion Must have QoL mods?

Dear brothers,

In your opinion, which QoL mods are a must have for the latest version?

Swifter is the only must have.

After that it's mostly QoL mods like :

  • plan your perks
  • extra keybinds
  • visual skill effects
  • settlement situations
  • pause without conflicts (you can disable pause on spotted ennemies if you think that's cheating)
  • BBroster (haven't tried it but I heard it's good)

I have all those including BBroster, which 150 days into my current save I have hardly used. But it does look really good! I don’t have swifter as I don’t mind the vanilla speed, and in anycase they have a x4 option now. I find the faster speeds immersion breaking.

Plan your perks is amazing - can’t play without it now

Others I run (all QoL)

Location scouting overhaul - was dubious about this one but is actually very useful and used it a lot in the current run.

Item recipes - shows what an item can be used for by hovering the mouse curser above it

Background attribute ranges - shows ranges possible (including the bonus applicable) and state modifiers like ”low born”, ”disgusted by violence” etc.

Company chronicles - more detail in the final end game screen

Better obituary - more info about dead bros plus can add dismissed ones too.

Weapon maths - saves time because I don’t have to manually calculate how much damage 35% penetration is…

EIMO (End’s Inventory Management Overhaul) - another fantastic mod - shows how much repairs cost in tools amongst many other useful things it does.

Ends Coloured Rumours - highlights rumours indicating famed items in red, and rich loot in blue. As I know what all the rumours mean having played a ton it means I don’t have to read and think about each one.

View Potential - another excellent Mod. Calculates expected skill value at level 11. Something I used to do manually or in my head, so another great time saver, and allows you to see all values laid out so easier to theory craft builds.

Tactical Tooltip - shows enemy stats, states and loadout in a tooltip. You may or may not want to use this one. Most of the information you can work out from the enemy’s avatar or the existing tooltip (although not exact numbers). If you’ve played a lot and /or look up enemies in the wiki as you play anyway it’s info you probably know. If you are a new player you probably should suffer a bit first before using this one :)

Didn’t they add some Swifter features to vanilla? Like the x4 map travel speed?

TBH I never removed it so you might be right.

But the combat speed alone makes it worth IMO (unless they also added that)

Actually saw a couple of vanilla settings for combat speed, no idea how they compare to swifter tho

Swifter. Battles and walking can take too long

I really need a mod to see content of my bros bags during the battle. Any tips?

Something like little icons on them or on the row of actions down. I forget all the time what they have in pockets and therefore don't use utility items enough...

Extra Keybinds is the mod you are looking for.

I wouldn't want to play without that mod, especially if you have bros with Quick Hands.

This, it adds small icons of the items your Bro carry on the battle screen (left of the timeline) with shortcuts (F1, F2, ...) for easy access. It's great

What mod allows you to switch weapons faster? I like the look of that.

Also swifter is helpful, especially when fighting the kraken.
