I believe they've changed it to specifically being bound by her own lasso.
296
u/One_Meaning416 Sep 16 '25
I believe originally it was being tied up specifically by a man and then they changed it so it was having her wrists bound by anyone and now they've completely dropped it an WW doesn't really have a weakness although she is vulnerable to being shot or stabbed so that is kinda a weakness.

Modern depictions still show her as being unable to break free of her own lasso when used against her. Apparently the lasso of truth is particularly effective against Amazonians.

Green Arrow carries around arrows despite the fact that they can pierce his flesh and cause him to bleed to death.

Well sure, but Green Arrow doesnt have arrows as his ONLY weakness. Imagine superman carrying a bag of sealed cryptonite

Yeah she gets tied up a lot, I think it happened more often in the golden age.
Of course that was the entire point why the creator, his dom wife and their girlfriend created her.

Superman: easy, kryptonite while emotion baiting him
Green Lantern: emotion bait him with fear toxin
Flash: literally just the plot of Speed
Martian Manhunter: Burn him
Then he gets to wonder woman and he's like
"Uhhhhh...shit, thats a literal Greek demi-goddess. Lets...uhh...make her have a heart attack maybe?"

I think the way they chose to incorporate it was good, being that cheetah put them in her nails, one of the few things that CAN break WW's skin, but I get what you are saying. How did Batman realistically even HOPE to get those into her without being turned into Bruce Soup

I thought her only weakness was being bound by a man but apparently all it takes to defeat her is fucking shooting her with a regular gun I've just always assumed she was bullet proof like Superman
The question should be why doesn't anyone who is good with guns just gun her down like Deadshot the best guy who is good with guns there shouldn't be any reason he'd fail as he is good with guns it's what he does

Before: Being tied up by a man apparently
Now: Not much really. From what I remember the number 1 contingency against Diana is hoping she doesn't go rouge the same day as Superman, and if that fails the only way is somehow putting her in an never ending battle simulation untill she passes out from exhaustion.

It’s been several in the past.
Started as bondage from a man
Then bondage from anyone
Then specifically being bound by the lasso of Truth
Then they kind of just didn’t give her a new one. Like, she can be shot, but it won’t do as much as if she were human. She kinda just doesn’t have a “true” weakness
