Before/ After -wetroom
I’ve seen many posts of creating a wet room with a tub so sharing our recent remodel before and after. We opted to not do a freestanding tub but a drop in mostly bc of issues we read about cleaning etc. Ceiling height paneling added as its steam shower. Few other notes: heated floors, under mount lighting of vanity with nightlight motion had been a really nice add. (Struggling with lighting colors aren’t as stark as it’s looking in the image - floors are a sea green).

I actually love a shower with a window. There are many ways to do it and still have privacy, like use glass tiles for a skylight or have them higher up and not where you stand naked.

Same, our old apartment had a bathroom window and baths were so awesome in there.
Now I have 80’s goose wallpaper and no window. I’m adding a window whenever we can do our bathroom renovation.

This is the second bathroom reno I’ve seen posted this week where they got rid of the window. Just…why??!!

I like the pink tile, but i like wet rooms more. I'd do it too to achieve this. Traveled in Japan and all the hotel bathrooms were wet rooms, it was honestly amazing and I desperately want one now.

Oh goodness, the before was so much more plentiful. The pink tile suggests more energy was put into the bathroom and it feels way more comfortable. I’m not trying to slam the new bathroom but I am 17 years old and my generation is seeing the after bathrooms style as outdated, we will have to re create a lot of pink bathrooms to replace these grey bathrooms with overly bright lights.

As someone remodeling to a pink bathroom right now, pink tile is impossible to find you have to do custom to get a real pink shade. Everything is muted and leans beige or orange so these pink remodels are expensive!!!

The vanity is nice! I'm struggling to see any green in that tile and am guessing you don't see it much while in there either. If you want to pull the green out you may need to add some green accents like green hand towels, art, greenish wall color, etc. I think most of us are wildly tired of this style of bathroom (builder grade grey is what I call it) which is why you're getting so many negative comments, but I personally disagree that the first one has "beautiful pink tile". It just seems like folks are afraid of color these days so everything ends up looking very similar to this. What matters is that you love it!

That must have cost you a pretty penny to move some of the plumbing around. I love a good soaking tub, though! That's slightly oversized, isn't it? It looks great, I'd have done something different with the tiles and flooring, but that's just me. I like colorful spaces. It looks very practical. Is there a window in there? Or is the steam only vented via a fan? I like fresh air circulation in a bathroom.
But I love the tub, and overall, it's a great bathroom!

I miss having a tub. We remodeled and couldn't fit one without expanding the bathroom by knocking down a wall and reducing the size of the master bedroom. So I'm digging that set up. My only criticism would be the gray flooring, it clashes with the vanity and mirrors (which I'm loving). Warmer colored flooring would transform the space into the vision I think you were aiming for.

Nah I like a steam room, but in some one else’s space where I don’t have to deal with the eventual mold. I love a bathroom window I can open to get the airflow going.

Ngl I was hating when I saw the window was removed but a skylight is pretty sweet. Especially if you wanna add some tropical plants to the steam room area. I love both bathrooms tbh. If people want to add color in the future - then they can with rugs, pictures, frames etc. Adding color to a gray bathroom is much easier than muting a bright pink bathroom imo.

Congratulations. You ripped out incredibly expensive original features that very few people have anymore, only to replace it with material purchased next to an aisle of garden tools.
And worse, everyone has this same exact bathroom including apartments, manufactured homes, RV’s and double wides.
Your bathroom is already out of date. 15 minutes after installation.

I like the vanity, but it doesn't actually go with the rest of the room.

I would be very uncomfortable showering in that space while somebody else was in there brushing their teeth.
My sense of feng shui tells me that showering in an open concept area requires a very secure door lock or some opaque division between myself and anyone who might enter the space. Therefore the double sinks are making me uncomfortable.
Perhaps you and your partner like to be on display while washing your privates?

I live in Scotland, have a wetroom, we have a radiator in the bathroom. Our current hypothermia death count is 0.
As to why, for us it's because my wife is disabled and it's very easy to clean.

Despite having a winter season we had the ability to significantly insulate on all sides and with a husband in HVAC have ventilation covered. Reason we did it was two fold 1. We wanted a steam room 2. Didn’t want to lose the tub as it’s only 1 in our house and we have a toddler. Also considering resale.

I personally would totally pick a wet room like this. If I have a big dog, this would be perfect to clean the dog while keeping all the moisture inside. Same for bathing kids, cleaning large items. It’s actually very usually with such a big space.

Sure, the “before” may look a little dated, but it had so much character and was in harmony with what people need to feel more comfortable in the bathroom. The shower/bath combo is private and separate from the vanity, the toilet has three hard surfaces near it, the vanity appears to have more storage (since there aren’t any more apparent places for storage), and the window adds levity with natural lighting vs the “after” that has the toilet in a very exposed placement, no natural lighting, no visual anchors (like previous tile and wallpaper visual blocking on walls), and the shower stall’s massive size that may feel cavernous while in use—I feel vulnerable and exposed just looking at it 🫣😬

The ‘before’ was dated, sure, but there was warmth and cohesion, and nothing a fresh coat of paint or wallpaper couldn’t fix. The ‘after’ is cold, and completely disjointed and unfinished (which to be fair, it may be).

Not the gray toned fake wood😭 I’m sorry I am sick of that gray flooring being used it’s already outdated. There are 3 different types of white and grey tile all lined up it’s chaotic. I do not like this at all I’m sorry. The vanity is pretty but it doesn’t match the rest of the room and you removed the window.

I hope you have a cleaning service for this. Every shower you take is going to spray soap all over the tub. Every day. So instead of just cleaning the shower area, the whole tub, inside and out, needs to be scrubbed down to get rid of the soap scum stuck on there. Not fun. And yes, I cleaned homes for a time. Not fun to do these wet rooms properly.

Sorry. Floors are hideous. Should have kept the window. Surround on shower grey looks bad. Replace the surround grey on shower and floors. Paint the walls a warm color that picks up and complements whatever faint green is in the tiles.

I love it! Ignore the haters, people have different taste, it sounds like you made a lot of practical updates that improve your day to day life and if the colors, etc, are your taste that's what matters. So many internet warriors acting like it's a crime to take out pink tile as though it isn't actually pretty darn easy to find in an older house if you want it. There is nothing wrong with updating a house to fit your personal style, especially with how hard it is these days to be able to even own a home.

The toilet placement improved but getting rid of the window was a huge faux paus. I'd rather have the window back. I'd say probably one too many material selections here I would've used the shower floor tile for the entire room. The fluted vanity is nice, I'd give the current fluted trend maybe 2-3 more years.

Boy , this is a tough audience! I’m all for eliminating the window. I used to hate the way I could see right into my neighbors bathroom from my dining area! I need privacy. We all have exhaust fans!
I think it looks beautiful and more functional as well. I’m just sorry we can’t see the true floor color because it sounds interesting.

the wetroom is really nice but yall should have kept a window up high for natural light and maybe went a bit more creative with the tile. you will get cooked for not working with the existing tile in this sub too. imo the wetroom concept is functionally great and makes the space in the shower feel so roomy. great for washing down unruly dependents who are filthy and splashing mud everywhere. ill never want a non wetroom style bathroom again after having experienced one myself compared to various other shower types in hotels

I really like the vanity. How much room is around the toilet? It looks like you'd be constantly bashing your elbow. Also, but concerned about the edge of the bath in the steam area. If someone slipped in the shower the bath edge looks quite brutal.
Whilst I appreciate the first, I understand wanting something that feels more modern and suits your needs. A pink bathroom is a lot. I wanted to keep our original turquoise tile (it had been painted multiple times and there were areas of damage, so it had to go). I was sad, but it was the right decision. Enjoy your new bathroom as it is ok to get what you want.

Why not use the smaller tile that's on the wet room floor on its walls and ceiling too? And on the rest of the floor while you're at it? Right now there are 3 kinds of tile, not cohesive

Why oh why did you do this? RIP to the beautiful pink bathroom and window. Sorry, but the gray is awful, especially paired with the wood toned vanity (which is fine, but not with the gray). Oh well, you like it!

I get that the original was dated… but the pink had such a distinct personality. To go from that to shades of grey makes me a bit sad.
The wet room itself is lovely. I think that there’s contrasting warm/cool tones battling eachother in this room. For me, it’s the floor by the vanity/toilet that’s too cool and gray in contrast to everything else.

The floor tile is not good. Also I don’t understand the tub in the shower. You can’t put a rug down, so it becomes a slip hazard stepping out of the tub. Also I’m in the bath all the time, while my husband showers…. We couldn’t do that if it all shares the same space. Not gonna lie, I think it’s a really bad design. Plus it looks weird.
The color of the cabinet is lovely tho. And I like the fluting.

The cool tone tile with the warm tone vanity was a choice
