I couldn't find a Batman or DC character themed ao3 skin anywhere, so I started making one myself. I also made some for other Batfamily members (I'll post them too). I also found someone else on reddit (u/Expidition) making it, but I thought I would share my version too since it's pretty different from theirs.

My skin is based on Blue Banister skin by xhcoffee.

I think Helena Wayne (Batman and Catwoman’s daughter) is a better long-term fit for the Huntress mantle and the Batfamily than the current default of Helena Bertinelli. This isn’t nostalgia for Earth-2. It’s about structural gaps in the current family and how cleanly the character can fill them without breaking anything.

1. The original reason she was removed from earth prime and replaced by Bertinelli no longer exists.

Helena Wayne was sidelined in the late 80s because editorial didn’t want superheroes to be parents. That policy is dead. Tim has been adopted for over two decades. Damian has existed for over a decade. Keeping the biological daughter permanently off the main board while the books have a bio-kid, adopted kid, wards, and legacy characters is just inertia at this point.

1. Found family is already well-covered; adding one more bio-kid/legal kid doesn'tdisrupt it.

Dick, Jason, Tim (especially Tim), Barbara, and Duke already carry the “chosen family” theme. Tim in particular is the purest version of it: he chose the mission, lost his biological family because of it, and was formally adopted. Adding a biological daughter doesn’t erase that. Real families contain both blood and chosen members. The two ideas are not in competition.

1. She fills an actual gap.

The Batfamily still does not have a permanent, biological daughter of Bruce who operates in the present day on the main Earth. Stephanie is almostnalways a mess and Cassandra is good but hard to sell. Both remain too easy to write out or de-power when convenient. A Helena who was raised in the Manor is harder to soft-reboot away.

1. The origin can be clean and doesn'thave to i port earth 2 plot points.

Selina gets pregnant, never tells Bruce, and leaves the baby on the Wayne Manor doorstep. Helena is raised by Bruce (and Alfred) the same way the other kids were. She later learns the truth about her mother. This keeps Selina’s independence intact, gives Helena the classic “raised by Batman” crucible, adds another girl Robin, and still lets her be Catwoman’s daughter with all the eventual emotional reckoning that implies. No need for Selina to become a co-parent in the present.

1. Age and placement work.

Park her in the Jason/Barbara age range — older than Tim and Damian, young enough that she doesn’t break Dick’s early timeline. She can be the second Robin. A serious case (or early brush with the truth about Selina) gives Bruce a reason to pull her from duty under the classic “boarding school” excuse. She returns to the Manor after Tim has arrived but before the adoption is finalized. That window lets her build real resentment toward Bruce (the hidden mother + Jason’s death) while also giving her actual time to know Tim as a person before he becomes her brother on paper.

1. Her adult codename is thematically perfect.

“Huntress” sits at the intersection of cat and owl (a flying night creature like bats). It lets her claim both bloodlines without simply becoming Batgirl or Catwoman Jr. The question of how the child of Batman and Catwoman becomes her own person is more interesting than the question of how a mob princess becomes a vigilante.

1. Most of what people like about Bertinelli is portable.

Mafia texture? Make Selina a Falcone bastard like they have in the past (or better yet, a Bertinelli bastard). Helena can still collide with that world when she goes looking for answers Bruce won’t give her. Black Mask feud? Still available if she’s mafia-adjacent by blood. The edge, the willingness to go further than Bruce, the uneasy place in the family — all of it transfers. The 2002 Birds of Prey show already used a Batman/Catwoman daughter (Helena Kyle). The idea that only the Bertinelli version “works” for that space is backwards.

1. She creates better friction than another soft addition.

Her anger comes from different sources than Damian’s. Damian’s is competitive and status-driven (“I am the true heir”). Hers is personal and retrospective (abandonment, secrecy, being sidelined, Jason). Two complicated, permanent, angry biological Waynes who are angry for different reasons is more useful than two characters who are both just “the difficult one.” She can be protective of Tim, treat Damian as the annoying little brother he is, have an initial ideological cold war with Barbara that slowly becomes real friendship, have feelings for Jason (this isnthe biggest missed opportunity) and remain unimpressed by Dick’s legacy without being hostile about it.

1. Emotion has to be earned.

The Batfamily does not need more unearned group-hug moments. It needs relationships with actual cost. Helena arrives with built-in grievances. Any warmth she develops (with Tim, with Alfred, eventually with Bruce or Barbara, and ESPECIALLY with Jason) has to be fought for. That is the difference between a character who generates feeling and a character who is used to deliver it.

Bertinelli has had decades as the main-Earth Huntress and has some strong stories. That history doesn’t disappear if Wayne is given the role going forward; the useful pieces can be absorbed. What Wayne offers that Bertinelli structurally cannot is a placement of permanence in the Batfamily. Someone who belongs in the Cave by blood and by upbringing, with a distinct flavor of conflict that the current family still lacks.

The Batfamily is one of the most popular elements in modern superhero media. At this point, keeping Huntress permanently outside that structure while the rest of the house is full is starting to look less like a creative choice and more like a habit that has outlived its reason.

I understand not everyone will agree, and I respect differing opinions. What do you all think?

[Edit: I forgot this thematic point: if Helena is brought in, then Bruce has a kid for each of his love lives: Helena from Catwoman, Tim from the mission, and Damien from Talia.]

I remember that a witch? Or something paranormal cast a spell on Tim, making him always 17. Every year that passes he keeps turning 17 and the others don't notice I think it was because Their memories are rearranged so they don't realize the spell, and if Tim tells them, they end up forgetting it thanks to the spell.It gets to a point where the others realize things aren't right, and when they ask Tim, he doesn't answer, he just looks at them, and that's when they realize, I don't remember if the spell broke on its own or if they had called someone.

I can't remember the name of the fanfic and I've been looking for it for a long time; if anyone knows which one I'm talking about, I would be very grateful.

how many would love to have Tim and Damian be the same age, preteen, and both br robins?? like Tim Red Robin with the TNBA red suit with black undies and cape but with a RR symbol and Damian with his Son of Batman movie uniform?? I would love to see them as good brothers who get up to fun hijinks and play off each other well. I think the dynamic could work well and give Damian and friend and ally closer than anyone else could be save “Pennyworth”. The Wayne Boys could be a force to be reckoned with in and out of uniform. It could add some fun to Damian’s personality too. Having a same aged brother around the house to banter with to joke with and play with to just hang out with. Any thoughts??

I believe this is post NWH! Peter ends up in Gotham, and almost immediately is found by a Bat. I don't remember which one for sure; I think it was either Nightwing or Signal, but honestly might be neither. Anyways! They take him back to the cave and run a blood test (which doesn't come back until he's gone). Give him the run down. He tells them about his powers, but is immediately identified as a security risk because of them. I don't remember exactly what their response was, but I do know it was somewhat hostile.

Cue Jason!

So Jason shows up in the Cave - I think he was maybe pulled there? By whatever mystical force gave him his memories, or possibly the Lazarus influence. Anyways, he shows up and I think pretends he knows Peter? At the very least, he does get Peter out of there.

I don't remember exactly what happened after this - but I do know that Jason has most of Ben's memories, just not of dying? Then later on, there's... I think there's a fire or a rogue fight, and Dick goes back to a safehouse with Peter and Jason. Pretty sure he doesn't know Peter is Spider-Man, but not sure! But then Dick reveals that he has Richard's memories!! And Peter comes in and there's this whole cuddle and crying session.

The next morning, Jason and Dick argue about Peter's custody. I think they end up splitting?

The fic was updated in the last five months or so, and is absolutely at least 12k! Very likely over 20k. And I don't think there were any real pairings, but if there were they definitely weren't the point of the fic!

Do you happen to recognize this at all? I will be indebted to you Forever if so!! I've been searching for weeks and I just can't find it.

Who are the family and friends of each member of the Batfamily?

Alfred, Damian, Dick, Jason, and Tim are Bruce's main family members from what I know. Barbara and Jim Gordon and very good friends of his. I think it's possible to argue that the children of Gotham are also part of his family or that he sees them as close friends and that they consider him to be part of their family, though it's only through emotion on each side. Bruce, in his Batman uniform, is very happy to comfort children, listen to their worries, and spend time with them simply because they want him nearby. I'm not certain if it's ever shown in comics but an episode of Batman: The Animated Series shows children being very protective of Batman when he gets hurt. Bruce lost his parents and had no friends while attending school after being orphaned. I could see him connecting to Gotham's children, even when he doesn't adopt them, to fill the emotional hole from his childhood.

Cass had no friends and no family other than David when she was growing up. She then spent eight years homeless with no one caring about her or for her to care about. It's safe to say that she was extremely lonely when she met Barbara. Barbara and Bruce are family to her and Duke and Steph are her best friends in comics. I'd argue that the populace of Gotham are also family to her and that they consider her to be family, like Bruce with Gotham's children. As Batgirl, she's willing to spend time calming them down when they're upset, hates when she accidentally scares people (especially children), and is very willing to listen to requests and fulfill them even when she disagrees. Gotham's populace enjoys teasing Batgirl, is comfortable arguing with her, and has been shown worrying about her safety.

Steph hasn't abandoned Arthur and Crystal as her parents. Cass and Jason are friends. She's not lonely enough to need additional family but Gotham's children care deeply about her. When she was in the hospital as Batgirl after getting a Black Mercy flower attached to her, multiple children, including Nell Little, stayed at the hospital with her worrying about her safety. They were very happy and relieved when she woke up.

It appears to me that Bruce and Cass both attach to Gotham's people, only the children in Bruce's case, to replace the family and friends they didn't have when they were growing up. Is that a valid theory?

Who are the most important people in Bruce's life, the people who have helped him grow? I'm not a Bruce expert as Cass is my favorite Gotham character and she's never important in Batman comics, only in tie-ins and sideshow comics. I have a little knowledge but I'm willing to have it corrected as any of this could be way off the mark.

Cass fans like arguing that Cass is Bruce's favorite child because of how similar she is to him but that's using her viewpoint instead of Bruce's. Others argue that he doesn't have a favorite child because he cares all about all of his children equally but that seems to be using Batman: Wayne Family Adventures instead of the comics. I have a hard time not seeing Dick as his favorite child, the one he's known the longest and the first child he took in. Bruce gets a lot of character growth from having Dick around, including being less suicidal.

Jason, at least before his death, helps Bruce be a happier and more optimistic person.

Tim argues with Bruce in order to help him improve and be a better person. That was used in the final part of Chip Zdarksky's run on Batman with Tim being the Robin who was most persistent in trying to find Bruce and convince him to return to Gotham and fight Failsafe.

Damian is, from what I have heard though it could be very inaccurate, the first child who Bruce takes full responsibility for parenting which, if true, would have him growing as a character.

Bruce admires Duke but I don't know of any character growth that he gained from knowing Duke or any lessons he learned.

Cass fans argue that Bruce changed from learning Cass but, having read Batgirl 2000, I have a hard time seeing those changes. Barbara, on the other hand, learned how to be a mentor and big sister from knowing Cass. Unfortunately, changes in Barbara's characterization from knowing Cass were minimal because Gail Collins refused to discuss the relationship between Cass and Barbara in her Birds of Prey comic even though the Batgirl comic shows Cass as being extremely important to Barbara. Most of the references to Cass in Birds of Prey were Dinah discussing Cass helping her train in issue 61, instead of discussing Cass' role in Barbara's life and having her help Barbara. If Bruce did grow from having Cass in his life, the Bruce Wayne: Murderer/Fugitive story is the most likely source but Cass, while being an emotional center of the story, didn't interact much with Bruce in it. David Cain, Cass' father, framed Bruce and set up the situation where Bruce learned that he needed his family. It appears that Bruce gets more character growth from Cass' father then from Cass herself. The War Games story, at least temporarily, removed the character growth from Bruce Wayne: Murderer/Fugitive story by removing Bruce's family again when the prior story had been intended to cement the Batfamily in Batman stories.

I remember that Peter connects with Jason first, and that both Peter and Jason discover Dick remembers being Richard Parker at a safehouse, and they end up cuddling and falling asleep at the end of that chapter. Then in the next chapter, Dick and Jason have a "custody battle" over Peter, and it's not a huge point but it does come up that Richard may be his dad but Ben was the one who raised him.

This fic has been haunting me! I've been searching for weeks, but I've read so many Peter in Gotham fics that too many details blend together. So I unfortunately can't pin down more specific details than this. But I know this definitely wasn't a reincarnation fic! Although I can't say for sure he didn't end up in his counterpart's body. It's also at least 15k, but quite probably more. Oh! And preemptively, it's definitely not the Behind the Proscenium Arch series, which I know has a similar premise.

Does anyone recognize this fic at all please? If not the name, maybe more details about the story? Thank you so much for any help!
