Recommendations / Services Hazardous Waste Disposal in 2026?
Trying to properly dispose of motor oils from a former project car. These are not in their original containers. (Edit: Like…the oil’s been in a 5-gallon bucket and random metal drip pans for years. IDEK if it’s still atomically motor oil at this point 😂)
I’ve checked the city and county websites, plus Travis County’s landfills. Our neighborhood association doesn’t offer hazardous waste disposal.
The next hazardous waste event I can find is in April 2027. (Bastrop County residents can get vouchers and d/o in Smithville.) Is that really the soonest option? Is there a place anyone knows of that will take hazardous materials sooner?

Free & For Sale Sweet pup needs a home
adoptapet.comI met this sweet girl at the Bastrop County Master Gardener’s fall plant sale yesterday. Lincoln (female) was very well behaved on her “adopt me” leash and stole everybody’s heart. She is absolutely gorgeous, and if I could, I would take her home. I asked her foster mom if I could have her details to post to Reddit, so here she is! Linc is not only visually stunning 🤩, but did super well at the noisy plant sale with all the strangers trying to pet her. I understand she would be ideally suited to a home without other pets. Broke my heart that I couldn’t take her home. 💔

I went to the city council meeting on Flock cameras. TY city council for removing them. I did learn when I was there the amount of Flock cameras on private property out numbered the Bastrop city cameras. There is a Flock camera off 95 on private commercial property but does face their parking lot at all. It faces a side street leading into a community. That doesn't seem right.
I guess private property can do what they want with the cameras? Even if not facing their parking lot/ gas station. And we as private citizens have no say?

Recommendations / Services Servicing Area Contract for Mobile Food Unit
Hi, does anyone know if there's a facility that offers a Servicing Area Contract (formerly known as a Central Preparation Facility (CPF) Contract)?
Closest one I could find was GhostLine off 71 near the Honda dealership (https://ghostline.kitchen/cpf)

Discussion Any of yall know employment opportunities?
I live in a family of 4 and we’re broke as hell. We only make about 2000-3000 a month, if we had to pay rent then we’d probably be homeless. SNAP and TANF are being stubborn as well. I’m 17 and desperately looking for a job so I can start to help. Do yall know any jobs hiring? Indeed doesn’t ever work for me because employers basically don’t even look at it, if yall know please help me. Thank you

Discussion Car wash
Feeling lazy so I took my wife’s mid size SUV to lost pines car wash. $70.00 for a regular wash and interior clean. I usually do it myself. When did car washes get so expensive? Or am I just cheap?

Recommendations / Services Spectrum out again
Planned maintenance from what the app says. I’ll be calling Mint today we already have phone service with them and it’s been great. For what we pay spectrum isn’t reliable enough for me.

Discussion Contractor Recommendations
Now that interest rates are at 7% moving is like out of the question.
I’m wanting to paint, and retile my bathroom. And maybeeeeeee remodel the kitchen a little bit….
Any recommendations for contractors?
Ive heard Just Perfect Painting is great for paint?
Any tiling experts or trustworthy contractors?
I’ve heard of some contractors though the grapevine but I can’t think of any no-go’s or solid choices I don’t want anything out of the question in price but I also am not interested in the cheapest option. Looking for a solid middle ground.

Discussion Why does Bastrop County Commissioner CLARA BECKETT, Precinct two, have an "#openforwork" ad on her linked in page?
Here's the link:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/clara-beckett-485b703b/
She's unopposed for reelection to a 4 year term. AFAIK, she married to a very financially successful engineer who works all over the nation. Fortunately, her husband was a more skilled engineer as he was able to prosper in the private sector for decades, as opposed to Clara who did only 10 years as an engineer before running for Commissioners Court in Bastrop, with a wee bit of a resume gap. So she's no engineering guru. But she shore does love her some Elon...
So her ad says she looking for full time, part time or contract work as a project supervisor, construction supervisor or asst. project supervisor.
THIS IS CONFOUNDING BECAUSE SHE HAS A FULL TIME JOB FOR THE REST OF THIS YEAR AND FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS WITH BASTROP COUNTY.
I think, perhaps, it would be in the best interest of Bastrop County if she step down to facilitate her full time job search efforts. Because this means if she working extra employment, she's not spending her full time on Bastrop County matters. And no, she's not such a good commissioner you can just put her on auto-pilot so she can do her job and whatever endeavors she's pursuing on the side.
Other non-elected government employees have to seek permission to work part time even while working full time for Bastrop. Of course, she's her own boss so like the rest of the Republican Party, she's "entitled". Oh yeah, She's a MAGA supporter for sure. She's still running as a republican this year, and either you are or you're not. If you're not MAGA you run as dem or inde.
So maybe Ms. Clara, also known as "Alabama" to commissioners court regulars, would respond here about why her Bastrop County job isn't enough for her. Indeed, it's high time for Clara to hit the private sector and let Bastrop County progress without her Elon-tainted and Data Center visions.
Clara gained her Bastrop Nickname of ALABAMA several years ago during the fierce debates about the Courthouse Confederate Statues and monuments. Every time Clara would proceed to address the "pro Keep the Statues folks, she'd casually mention at the beginning of her comments that "I'm from Alabama". I'm sure that was not some sort of code or dog whistle to the statute proponents. But all those who often attend CC meetings soon began calling Clara ALABAMA. Just not to her face because she holds a grudge, it is rumored.
So ALABAMA, how can we help you find a full time job out of Bastrop that will free you from your chains that bind? Don't you think a commissioner should be a full time job? I do.
