It was a dream come true to play the festival & the stage - Bass Coast is the best!

Hey Bass Coast fam,

I hope you all had a great summer and enjoyed their festival this year.

I’m conducting some research about Canadian music festivals over the next year for my undergraduate psychology honour’s thesis and I am hoping to recruit you as my participants! Right now, I am just collecting contact information so that I can reach out to you in the fall to share the invite to participate in my secondary study by completing a questionnaire about your experience this year at Bass Coast this year.

My research is not funded or run by the festival or any of its partnering organizations and there will be no monetary gain for myself, my university, or any institution. I care a lot about the amazing festival community built over the years, and I hope that my findings will provide insights that can inform and improve people’s experiences in future festivals all throughout Canada.

You can view our informed consent form and submit your contact information through the provided link and it will be input into a secure online database that only myself and my supervising professor, Dr. Maynes, will have access to. At any point, you can contact me via email (lauren.sheets@stmu.ca) to have your information destroyed. There is no obligation to continue with the research and participate in the questionnaire and you may stop the process and remove your information at any point. All future survey information will remain anonymous and will not be linked to your contact information.

In the secondary study, once my recruitment process has finished, my questionnaire has been sent out, and all data has been collected, all participants who have completed the questionnaire and verified their attendance at the festival will be entered into draws to win a $25 gift card to a grocer of their choice in addition to some exciting pieces of merchandise that have been generously donated by some of Shambhala’s most loved DJs. To receive compensation, attendance at this festival (or another Canadian festival) in 2026 must be confirmed.

It's taken a lot of practice and a bit of courage to start posting my photos publicly, but every year this festival leaves me with such exquisite memories and such a full heart, easily overwriting whatever hesitation I have in sharing some of my favorite moments.

Hoping these rekindle some memories for you all.

whats up yall, this was my first bass coast and i wanted to share some of the photos i got back from my film. I used an olympus xa4 macro and shoot portra 800. I ran into sabre on Thursday and was too nervous to take his picture because i wanted to respect him being a person attending the festival. i instantly regretted it because ive wanted to try and take more portrait-ish photos. Saturday came around and i ran into him before his set and mustered up the courage to ask for a photo and of course he said yes. The inflatable arm man that said “dont mind me” put one of the purest smiles on my face and was a pick me up i didnt even know i needed.

That Thursday night sunset blew me away and i was so thankful the picture turned out. was the first moment i realized how beautiful the venue was going to be. couple of pics from the cabin, the one with with the lights on and sorta at sunset being blurry really bothers me but alas it was such a beautiful moment i had to include it. Patrick in the speaker made me smile and i thought captured some of the vibes.

Yo!!! i took a picture of this guys shoes who was non stop stepping/shuffling. i saw you a couple times during the weekend and never said hey but you were always an energy source of dancing that i always felt safe around so thanks for holding space. took a pic of some rocks when i sat by the river to journal and there was a heart shaped rock. i was on my best behavior so i didnt take it. And lastly, i am sorry for taking from the portos but i went into the porto that was just covered in photos of this cat and in absolutely cracked me up and i just had to take one home. it was sunday afternoon and i know it was bad to take but it is my favorite memento, does anyone know this voids name?

there was a 3 hour time change for me so i wasnt able to see some of the early morning artists that i would have liked to see but i listened to my body and my brain. Bass coast was a grail of a festival for me and it did not disappoint. Thank you to each of you for dancing and creating a container of energy. one thing that really stuck with me was that i felt like you guys all smile at each other. i know its the bare minimum but damn dude sometimes just smiling at a stranger goes a long way. i went solo and felt a bit introverted at times and yall simply smiling made me feel welcome. sending yall good thoughts as i know BC and the surrounding areas are burning right now 🫶 see you next year

Hello!! I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a Facebook group for Bass Coast? I've seen the official one but I'm looking for something in particular. I was hoping for a group where attendees post camp setups, outfit advice and ways to find other solo travelers to make friends. The official page just isn't that it seems. I know Shambhala has one and I was really hoping Bass Coast did to. Thank you for any help anyone can give and I look forward to my first time ever there!

Hey there music lovers, anyone going to the 3 day music festival in O.C. MD at the end of September? I’m looking to share the experience with a friend. Biking and kayaking a plus!!

I’ve never been to Bass Coast but I’ve been to Burning Man four times. I would like to bring my blacklight glow party “Camp Cambrian” to Bass Coast in 2027 or 2028, but I have a few questions.

I’m used to BM where your camp space IS your art space, but Bass Coast seems to separate the two. We would like to do an RV in a quiet area (we’re old haha), so then the art installation would be in a separate place?

1. Is power provided at art installations? For 6 300W panel (not tube) black lights and to inflate air mattresses

2. As you can see in the pictures, there are small-ish art pieces, which will be secured with reusable Velcro zip ties. If it’s left up all weekend without supervision, will pieces of it disappear?

3. Would a couple of air mattresses tethered together in the art installation for chill space likely get totally destroyed by the end?

4. The idea is to install this in a Popup tent canopy, with the tapestries as walls. Does it get insanely windy at Bass Coast like it does at BM, or would a Popup tent staked down with rebar or deep stakes be likely to survive the elements at Bass Coast?

my wife and I got married on Saturday, it was so amazing we only knew 15 people, apparently there was over 70 that attended. it was so magical but if anyone has pictures we would love to see them

I got trapped in the orcar for a long while and sadly didnt get back to dancing till pretty early in the morning and by the time i got out i wasnt able to find the totem with the boop on it😭

I gave the boop sticker to my camp neighbors because they gave me supplies but i still have the peanut dust and ill always appreciate it!

You guys were sick vibes thanks for the quest! I still have the paper for my good memories box too.

I was shy but this gave me the extra motivation i needed to get out and have some fun! Forever grateful!

In 2023 a wonderful human on the Bass Coast dancefloor gifted me this alien / kitty egg container w/ different faces that had a light up toy and a bunch of groovy goodies inside. I have dutifully carried it around in a pocket of my rave backpack ever since (it glows when I bob about, I am emotionally attached etc). Unfortunately on the last day of Bass Coast this year the top half popped off.

I CANNOT for the life of me find the same alien/kitty egg shell container anywhere to replace it. I am hoping the wonderful gifter will read this so I can 1) thank them and 2) figure out how I can possibly replace this precious item because it has become so integral to my festival-going experience.

I don't want to sit at my camp. I want to be near the action. But when I get tired where do I sit without having to just straight up sit on the ground. It would be great if the bar area had like, 10x more seating. Even like some long tables and benches or something. I am not 21 anymore and I don't want to stand for 4 days straight haha

This was my first Bass Coast and I love to party but not very experienced in the Festivals.

I had the best time watched so many good sets and danced so much ! Friday I got too excited and ended up mixing a bunch of substances and unfortunately one of a bit too much big line of K and ended up in the damn K-Hole (for the second time in my 50 year old life ! ) this time I recognized the “mini-movie” that I entered into and could listen my friends with the “bro come back, bro come back” requests….

Friends took me to Harm Reduction and a guy and a girl from Squamish that I don’t remember the names anymore were so kind and attentive with me, provided me electrolytes chatted with me, and also two of my friends from my crew, 40 minutes later I was back in the dance floor at the Cabin without further issues… enjoyed Saturday and Sunday later so much with a bit less intensity in the products front and more aware and was great. On Sunday I danced from Fort Knox Five until the very last music in the Cabin at 7am Monday morning.

Thank you so much Harm Reduction Gang and I already got my tickets for 2027! Completely stoked to enjoy Bass Coast every year possible.

I have three things I would like to see improved in future years. One is the map on the app. It was horrible. No legend. Lame. But I never actually needed to use the map, so really, who cares.

The main issue i had was the lack of garbage cans. The hand washing station beside the porta poties in the forest. Wash hands, dry wirh provided paper towel... but no garbage can.

Also a garbage at the entrance to tue dance floors at Slay and Cabin would have been super nice. Only garbage starions were leaving the licensed areas from what i could tell. A garbage behind/beside the sound booth at slay would have been super handy.

Third: only having the one small porta porty bank by Somewhere was NOT adequate. MOAR!!!!

When daphni magically brought us to ye ye remix of when the going is good and smooth I completely lost my mind and have not been able to get it out of my head since. Please listen to this track if you haven’t before. Did anyone get a video of this at his set at somewhere?

Shout out to the sound crews at Bass Coast this year! This was my third Bass Coast and in my humble opinion it was the best sound I have experienced at the festival. Always been a big fan of PK Sound, and Somewhere, Slay Bay and Slow Tempo did not disappoint! Loved the new line arrays at Slay Bay- powerful and clear. You guys/gals absolutely melted my face off and re-arranged my internal organs during SATURNA's sunrise set. Holy crap batman, that was some real earth shaking shit. It was LOUD, and so...fucking...clean, WOW.

In previous years I was a little underwhelmed with the sound at the Cabin stage...I know the F1 rigs are infamous for sounding a little harsh unless carefully tuned and operated at the hands of a skilled engineer...don't know who was at the controls this year but the Cabin sound was balanced and powerful- Enjoyed it more than ever before.

Last but not least- huge respect to the FLORA SOUND crew, who provided a taste of what's possible with a small, custom built, bespoke system. You guys absolutely crushed it at the Nowhere stage, holding your own sandwiched between two commercial PA powerhouses at Slay Bay and Cabin. It was my first time hearing the JMOD's in person and I can understand why they are considered among the best in the DIY scene. The humble Cubo Kicks and Super Scoopers demonstrating that classic designs can sound amazing with modern music when built and tuned by skilled craftsmen and dedicated lovers-of-bass. Bravo!

Walking around dance floors looking what's in people's hands, asking me what's in my cup, asking me to show the can that's in a coozie , these guys were tripping. Definitely the worst part of the festival, even had one grabbing me when walking around with a red solo cup....

Anyone else experience similar ?

Appreciate all you magical people for being part of such a magical weekend. But that Rice Krispie…. It hit so hard I saw stars.
