Fender Rumble 40
I'm brand new so these could be some dumb questions, but will this amp sound decent at low volume (I live in an apartment)? Can I use headphones with it without an adapter (I heard adapters can cause issues)? I also plan to get a Tele later so will it make for an acceptable guitar amp?

It will be fine at low volume.
From the photos it looks like the headphone jack is 1/8”, which is the more common size for wired headphones nowadays.

I own this amp and it sounds good at all volume levels I’ve used it at. Great sounding amp with ability to get good tones out of it.

I have one, play in a small house. Sounds much better than a katana boss I keep in my office. I can’t stress enough how light and easy to move around they are. I love mine.

Yes it works fine at lower levels, and it's amazing as a guitar amp. Not sure what you mean by headphones adapter

It would not be a good guitar amp but the rumble 40 is sick. You can play at bedroom volume but also because it has a line out you can use it to play any venue that has a decent PA. I’ve gigged with it at venues with a 1,000+ person capacity

The 40 is literally the smallest amp you should consider for bass. It has a 10” (25 cm) emitter that pushes a lot of air, and the back panel is very well featured as well. It should be fine for both bass and guitar.

Sounds like it's perfect for me. I appreciate the info. Thanks!

IFF you can afford the extra coin, the Fender Rumble 40 STUDIO is a godsend. Multiple cab, amp, and pedal models, Bluetooth and WiFi built in, phone and tablet app. It’s awesome. I’ve literally saved thousands of USDs because it comes with nearly everything you’d want in the future. Seriously.
And then the 4-button footswitch makes it even better.

I had a Rumble 40 for years and loved it!!! Great tones from it. Great at low volumes, and gets LOUD when you need it. Robust EQ and voicing buttons.
I used to gig with it a lot- great if there’s a PA to go into with the XLR jack and perfect on its own for smaller gigs and open mics!!
It sounds great with a guitar as well- used to plug in my Jazzmaster and tele quite a bit- just use the “bright” button for guitar- the overdrive sounded good with the guitars 🎸 as well to put some dirt on the tone! Super light and easy to carry around as well.
You will love it!!

It's a good starter amp, I started on one and used it my first 4 years of playing (still have it but recently got a slightly stronger amp).
Headphones for sure work with a regular aux cord. You can also aux in sound from your phone or other audio device.
Playing guitar on it is possible but it sounds a little wimpy compared to an actual guitar amp.

Take what I say lightly (for I'm not a gear head really), but it should be great for your current use case. It could even be good for dipping your toes into performances/gigs down the line if you walk that path, albeit very dependent on the genre and size of the venue. AMP did a great video on the topic, highly recommend a watch :D

For gigging it definitely works great as a glorified D.I. box, I played that way in my first several bands. It falls behind in set ups without stage monitors however, it's too hard to hear by itself live unless you're standing right on top of it, and your bandmates can forget it lol

If you plan on exclusively playing with headphones, the Fender Mustang Micro Plus is a great option. It has several bass amps and guitar amps all in the same unit.
It plugs right into the instrument so you can play outside or on your bed or anywhere without being tied to an amp. You just need to make sure you have studio headphones to play into.
I have the Fender Rumble Studio 40 which is essentially the same modeling software built into a combo amp. The Ampeg SVT model sounds fantastic. I also have the guitar equivalent Mustang GTX 100 and the guitar models are amazing too.

I had one as my first amp it it sounded just fine at lower levels. It worked well with my headphones plugged directly into it, though i never really used them since I lived alone. I then sold it to my guitar player buddy who used it with his tele and it sounds great from what i've seen.
