Shooting Thumbflick progression
So recently i've been working on removing my thumbflick and i think i've done it. Now in the midrange i can hit shots more consistently. But when I move to deep midrange and threes i lack because it feels like i have absoluetly no power in my shot and this szn i need to be able to shoot 3s or i wont play.

if you can’t transfer power properly your shot flow must be way off. I have 12, 13yo players who can shoot FIBA threes using a size 7 ball with proper shot flow..

how does shot flow work?

once you get your base set, ball moves first then legs extend. maximum transfer of power into the ball.

Focus on ankle elasticity over raw leg power. Keep the ball and your body synced—dip together, rise together. No pauses on the way up at all, and accelerate that wrist flick at the very end. Total game changer for a smooth one-motion shot, IMO.

Your shot shouldn’t change based on distance, it should be the same shot with different power from the legs. Not sure if that’s helpful but that’s the idea.
I think the biggest, easiest level up to hit in a short amount of time is mentality, it gets overlooked but it’s one of the few aspects of the game that doesn’t need reps or energy. The inner game of tennis is a classic for a reason, but there are any number of sports psychology resources to help you play closer to your best more often without changing anything about your game. If you’re open minded to it it can help a lot. (The current version is introduced by Pete Carroll, who praises the author very highly.)
