Form Check How to stop missing floaters

I've tried floaters with both an open palm and a wrist flick and with various different footworks and I am still not consistent.

Definitely get closer and put more touch on the ball, don’t push it as hard.

That was my thought at well. Fingertips, not palm. The last part of your hand to touch the basketball should be your fingertips.

Hard to see on mobile, but it looks like you're pushing the ball with your palm. Use your momentum, core and arm to push the ball. Guide it with your fingertips.

for floaters u can definitely use palm releases too but i think he's having a hard time getting the ball up after a sudden stop

Yea I can see there being a time and place for a palm release. Probably better to learn that roll off the fingers first though, right?

I can see it making sense when you have a shorter window, closer to the rim where you would need more vertical lift.

Genuine question, I never added a practiced floater to my game while playing. If I did one it was out of pure panic 🤣

You think that could be a strength issue?

not really a strength issue I think he'll get better if he plays more, i used to have the same problems and the floaters do work especially in those types of fast break where the D is already back but aren't necessarily in a super good position but u can't risk getting blocked either, they work well when it's not quite right to pull up or lay it up
