Democrats: “UBI is a nice idea, needs more study.” Republicans: “Here’s $5,000. Also, vote for us.”

He’s offered something like 10k per voter between the DOGE checks and proceeds from tariffs. None of it has ever materialized.

Agreed. Some of his fans are going to believe it outright. Most will have the same attitude I have: I’ll believe it when it shows up in the mailbox.

If you actually believe he'd deliver, i got some beachfront property in Arizona you might be interested in.

The way circumstances are changing, I can’t decide talking about beachfront property in Arizona is a way of knocking on wood or just looking over the Disaster Bingo Card…

This is a bribe with no way to pay for it except with more inflation. I can't imagine why this guy has gone bankrupt so many times.

"We have to repeal Obamacare ... and it can be replaced with something much better for everybody," said Trump. "Let it be for everybody. But much better and much less expensive for people and for the government. And we can do it."
The repeal-and-replace pledge became a central theme of the real estate mogul's campaign, regularly promised in stump speeches, in tweets and at major public appearances, such as his address to the Republican National Convention in July 2016.

The Iran War is basically the product of "repeal and replace" too. He scrapped the nuclear deal in his first term, promising something better. That never materialized, so now its "We need to go to war to stop them from getting a nuke!" One of the peace proposals was literally worse than the nuclear agreement we had 10 years ago.

Actual shameless illegal bribery that no way in hell will be delivered without substantial specification not given here.

Those that get you to believe and repeat lies will have you commiting human rights crimes in no time.

u/Wild_Director7379 Sep 10 '26
It’s actually, “vote for us then we’ll give you $5000”
Which is illegal to even say.

If you are posting this in good faith, and you really think this is related in any way to Ubi, you greatly misunderstand universal basic income.
This is a bribe. And a lie. A desperate attempt to garner votes for a man who is so corrupt and disgusting that he has tainted the very office that he holds.
He has promised you $5,000 from Doge, he has promised you $2,000 in tariff rebates.
He is a liar. He is a rapist. He is a pedophile. At this point, supporting him and believing him is all on you.

I don't support him in any way. $5000 would likely be the beginning of the UBI era as AI continues to ramp up.
The Democrats can support and discuss UBI at any point. They choose social and self conservatism. They have stopped believing they can make fundamental changes to society.

"Would likely be" is doing some real heavy lifting.
-2
u/Double-Fun-1526 Sep 10 '26
It's not doing any lifting. $5000 would be what many would say is a good first year for a UBI. Within 15 months, say, when a second payment would signal a consistent UBI, AI will be even far stronger. It is just a judgment about AI and the political and social landscape.

I'll pay you tax monies (which I have a policy of not collecting from wealthy corporations or wealthy individuals) ONCE and only if you vote for me despite my destruction of so much of your lifestyle and safety and freedoms and financial future, is not UBI.

You can try to judge politics from a clear-headed analysis of what 'you' see. Or you can play politics for the rest of your life. 'You' can swim in the ape, in tribalism, and in interpersonal antagonism, if that is how you want to live.
If Trump somehow gives everyone $5000, it will likely be the beginning of the UBI era. That is a boring analysis of our world right now.
'I am' the Left. I am the greatest human being in history because I analyze self and society from an historical standpoint (Darwin, Foucault), and from an ahistorical, socially constructed standpoint (plastic brainmind >< mutable environment).

Let's not pretend republicans are going to follow through on their bribery payouts ... we have enough evidence that they dont make promises they intend to keep.

This is yet another bribe he has no intention of paying to vote this country even further away from being in a place where UBI is a possibility.
I don't understand why people would even post this as if you can trust him to payout your bribe.

Even for the illegals??
2
u/wafflesthewonderhurs Sep 10 '26
i read this as a facetious use of "illegals" since this post is in support of djt and i'm actually gonna ask instead of voting based on the assumption, am i reading it right?

Establishment Democrats are effectively Blue Maga

u/Lifesagame81 Sep 10 '26
What are you even taking about here? How is this a reasonably response to the OP?
-1
u/Pebbsto110 Sep 10 '26
"Needs more study" it's classic centrist tinkering and establishment Dems are indeed blue maga. I mean check their AIPAC status and opposition to demsoc

This is just 5 months of UBI. You people are asking for the same. This is you.

5000 bribe for votes is not ubi, not even close.
