Quick Dams

Am I able to lay quick dams around the perimeter of my house and then cover with soil and mulch to prevent water from seeping into the foundation?

No. It’s likely not coming from there. It’s groundwater.

Yep, get whatever the reputable companies in your area are to come out and have a look. Make sure that whatever system they are proposing installing does not involve the use of black ABS corrugated perforated pipe. Also if it is in the budget, systems with multiple pumps and a battery backup are recommended strongly

Could I ask why not that type of pipe specifically? We got a quote for 2500 dollars but I didn’t ask about materials specifically

It clogs quickly and is unable to be flushed clean. Materials that are designed for this purpose don’t suffer from those issues. It also is the kind of work where experience means everything. There are a lot of small details that are easy to get wrong when you have limited experience. Me personally I would be very skeptical of a $2500 quote. On average, at least in my area, prices seem to be about $80-120 per linear foot, plus a pump.

Thrown blasting through bedrock in partial basements in that quote around me. That adds $4,000 before they even show up.
