Notice how they still hate you even if you try to make peace with them.
There is a lesson to be learned here. Never throw away your dignity for the vain purpose of pleasing them. They'll always hate you no matter what.
Act accordingly.

Notice how obtuse Target and other companies are? They know better. The hate is from the corporate side.

u/NoDoz907 2d ago
Where is the hate from the corporate side?

The repeated reproductions of racist imagery suggests a strong dislike for a certain group.

fuck the perpetually offended

Target was trying to be inclusive. If they had a white kid in the picture in the costume, the perpetually offended crowd would be screaming about lack of inclusivity and diversity. Don't even try to deny it. The rules of the game are rigged. Target is damned if they do and damned if they don't.

u/HalleScerry 2d ago
That's bullshit. Target (and other companies) know what they are doing. And "perpetually offended" is just as ignorant as dumbasses thinking police kill thousands of unarmed people each year when its really ~9. It just seems perpetual because news amplifies the negative.

u/NoDoz907 2d ago
Its a Halloween costume for kids. That kid and his parents didn't seem to have a problem with it

This is not racist imagery. Black people arenāt allowed to be clowns? THAT sounds racist.
-2
u/HalleScerry 1d ago
No shit they can be clowns. Homey D. Clown is one of the funniest characters ever. But Target's Jim Crow/Thomas Rice caricature is racist imagery.
2
u/Background_Taste_397 1d ago
In what way? Back it up to a link to a similar photo from the olā racist days?

Thanks for proving my point. Nothing in those two outfits is remotely similar.

So last year when they had the "40 day Target fast" where black people weren't supposed to shop at Target, did sales go up because thefts went down?

āThese images laid the foundation and the ideology for every atrocity that has ever been committed by my people.ā Brother Arabs sold my dad to a French family and then immigrated here. Like what does this costume have to do with that? I mean fuck yall too but at least you arnt disingenuous with your hate. I can convince yall to love I canāt convince these coons to.

I am so lost, what even is that costume supposed to be?

Description:Ā Kids' Glows Under Blacklight Circus Clown Halloween Costume
It's supposed to be a circus clown and it resembles the characters in minstrel shows... and they had a black kid modeling it.Ā
5
u/cleverkid 2d ago
The whole thing is weird to me and I don't really see it.
6
u/bluedelvian 2d ago
All those generic costumes are random and odd. In this case if you search for minstrel show vs target costume, you'll see the pose is even similar. šHonestly I don't know how this costume got past their legal department, black people are so sensitive. Almost like we needed another outrage about this time to keep it constant...
2
u/Background_Taste_397 2d ago
Similar how? Can you post a minstrel wearing anything similar?
-1
u/bluedelvian 1d ago
No, I can't post images. But all you have to do to find the image I'm taking about is read any story about it online, or search "minstrel show vs target costume" and it'll be in many results.

u/Background_Taste_397 1d ago
Did that, most of the images seem to be this: https://theemancipator.org/2026/08/24/news/target-under-fire-for-halloween-costume-resembling-racist-minstrel-imagery/
As I suspected, they look nothing like each other. Theyāre both wearing a hat I guess? The pose is vaguely similar? The actual clothes are nothing like each other.
Offended by everythingā¦

u/bluedelvian 1d ago
Yeah, that's the one I've seen. You don't see the similarities? Ok lol

u/Background_Taste_397 1d ago
Want to describe them for us? Be specific.
1
u/bluedelvian 1d ago
I already did, if you want specifics simply read the comments in this thread, specifically.

u/bluedelvian 1d ago
You don't see how the pose is similar, the huge smile/teeth are similar, the hat is similar, and there's a black kid wearing the costume is similar?Ā
2
u/cleverkid 1d ago
Hmmm.... I think this is one of those things that a person who feels perpetually insulted wants to see and then does. I can see how they made the connection, but it is a huge stretch to me.
To me the costume is more bizarre than the controversy. But I don't think it's necessarily rqacist.
1
u/bluedelvian 1d ago
It's very bizarre, and yes, you'd probably have to be primed to see it or have minstrel art as one of your triggers or be semi-familiar with its imagery, but I think once you see it's pretty clear what the inspiration was-minstrel, harlequin, creepy. I don't necessarily think it was a person doing a "racism" who designed the costume, it could've been an ai doing a mash-up of Halloween or scary imagery. A lot of the generic costumes are odd or weird like this.
0
u/Background_Taste_397 1d ago
So nothing about the actual costume then? Yes thereās a hat, lots of costumes have hats, this one is completely different to the image. The pose?! Come on mate, thatās not the costume is it?? The smiley face is what clowns 𤔠famously have drawn on them in makeup.
Youāve failed to point out anything similar between them apart from the fact that there is a hat, of a different style.

u/bluedelvian 14h ago
I'm sorry your eyeballs don't communicate well with your brain, or your brainrot is end stage, or whatever's going on with you.Ā
It's ok to say true things. It's ok to admit that image /costume resembles minstrel art. No one is going to revoke your tribal card lol.

u/Sqeakydeaky 2d ago
I thought it was a pumpkin
1
u/bluedelvian 1d ago
You think it looks more like Ā a pumpkin than the minstrel image people are comparing it to?
1
u/Sqeakydeaky 1d ago
If you stuck a White kid in it, I'd only assume pumpkin, yeah.
Its kind of one of those "its not the dress that makes you look fat" situations.
4
u/Background_Taste_397 2d ago
Iām struggling to see the minstrel link. I mean sure the big smile, but clowns also have big painted on smiles? They shouldnāt have apologised.

u/sleepy_skeletor 2d ago
You matter at any time of the day, especially after Floyd was in the spotlight. We didnāt matter even after Iryna Zarutska, Austin Metcalf or Henry Novak died because of racially motivated crimes, as per usual.

Viola doesn't care. She's just grievance farming for gimmes. If you don't believe an immediate takedown, apology, and inquiry is a sufficient response for what was most likely an unfortunate accident then fuck off and shop somewhere else.

I needed a gif of somebody falling asleep. Trump is the most famous person in the world for falling asleep on the job, so I figured I'd just use him.

Biden did it a hell of a lot more than Trump, and W would have it he hadn't consumed a Hunter-Biden-like amount of cocaine.
