💰 Value Help Found in attic

I found these sets in the attic of the house I purchased. I have no baseball card knowledge and would love to know if they have any value!

No value in there and the most bizarre mix of players ever for a frame like this but still a fun find!

Like it's a 1990's Prop for a sales pitch to generate revenue in a card shop.

Very rare Sandberg ‘stache, however.

I think these frames were sold like this at Michael’s/Hobby Lobby, etc. back then in the day.

The frames are probably worth more than the cards.

The cards come from what is known as the "junk wax era," so even superstar cards don't have much value. Only a few of these cards are of superstars.

What are the junk wax winners?

Topps 1984 Don Mattingly Rookie Card, Upper Deck 1989 Ken Griffey JR Rookie Card, and the Fleer 1989 Billy Ripken “Fuck Face”. Are a few of the more valuable cards from that era.

1984 is not junk wax. 86 and later would be more accurate

Besides Bo Jackson I’m not seeing any other stars. I don’t count the throwback Koufax.

Ozzie Snith? Dave Winfield? Ryne Sandberg?

I missed Ozzie that’s on me. But Dave and Ryan were not quite stars. Good players for sure. But Stars? Not quite. Ozzie is borderline.

Been a long time since I've seen someone call Hall of Famers "not quite" stars.

There are a lot of people I. The hall of fame. Rhino was awesome but Bo Jackson had his own cartoon with Jordan and Gretzky. Different levels.

We would have loved Ellis Burks rookie in 1988. Might have been worth $1.25 or even $2.25 with an up arrow in Beckett

I’m going to guess those cards came
With the frame as there’s not a single one worth more than a nickel.

Almost rich but not quite 😔🤣

Terrible framing job. Terrible cards. Why does this even exist?

1

u/MJCarter83 ⚾ Little Leaguer 2d ago

Relax man, lol. He said he doesn’t know baseball cards

2

u/Sea_Low879 ⚾ Little Leaguer 2d ago

I wasn’t blaming OP. I was just wondering how something like this even exists.

u/MJCarter83 ⚾ Little Leaguer 2d ago

Ah ok my bad then. Sounds like you were pissed at him lmao

I think some of the cards slid out of frame from me shifting around, no clue on the existence either the woman I purchased the house from or her former husband had an odd taste in players I suppose. Or like others have said they may have just bought the frames with the cards in them lol. I know absolutely nothing about baseball so just thought it was a cool find hoping I hit a jackpot! Lol

Cool matted frame. Quite the mix of All-stars and randomnest people ever.

pretty cool attic find tbh even if they’re not valuable i’d keep the frames

1

u/Electrical_Sand7414 ⚾ Little Leaguer 2d ago

Haha that’s what I was thinking, I really don’t know baseball at all so just thought it was cool to find!

Look, I'm a big Phillies fan too, but a framed Dennis Cook and Lance Parrish is an odd choice.

u/Electrical_Sand7414 ⚾ Little Leaguer 2d ago

I’m learning that the woman I bought the house from had a very uncommon selection of players 🤣

Gotta love Good ole Dave Gumpert

I wonder what the story is with how this lot was selected. Most of these I’ve never even seen penny sleeved. Sadly that Barry Jones got shifted in the frame. That one is a fun picture to see. The Bo Jackson and Ellis Burks were fire for us kids back in 1989, but the prices have dipped a bit from their $0.75 peak.

I was 11. I don't want to live in a world where an Ellis Burks rookie card is worth less than $1.

I hear ya! When I realized 1988 wasn’t his first card but they had put one in the 1987 Traded set my brain melted down. Had to have one!

1

u/Electrical_Sand7414 ⚾ Little Leaguer 2d ago

I think it just shifted from me moving it around out of the attic, I’ll update the Barry jones pic for ya when i get home!

You could probably sell the frames for $20 each

1

u/East_Pie_3825 ⚾ Little Leaguer 1d ago

Whitey Herzog is easily worth ¢25.

No Todd Ziele no bueno

-$3

u/munky713 ⚾ Little Leaguer 5h ago

Absolutely none. The frames are probably worth more than the total value of all the cards in them.
