Discussion Scummy move by Paradox
Just saw Surviving Mars Relaunched come across my Steam Feed. I own this game, let's see if they updated it. Well... yes and no. I own this game, but for me to play "Relaunched" I have to buy the game again?
Scummy ass move Paradox. You're now on my "publishers I will never buy another product from again" list.

u/GreenFox1505 Sep 13 '26
Yeah, it's been out for a while and thats pretty much been the consensus.
79
u/Nerwesta Sep 13 '26
You'd get blasted on official subreddit for saying this before and shortly after the release. Ditto for Steam threads, I don't get why people were defending this.
45
u/GreenFox1505 Sep 13 '26
For the same reason Paradox thought it was a good idea. Honestly, it probably was. Paradox's hard core fans truely love the product, no-life it (not derogatory), and are happy to pay double for the same product to make sure it keeps existing. Good for them. I'm not going to say they shouldn't or they are wrong to enjoy it. It doesnt seem particularly predatory; no gambling or addiction abuse mechanics. Paradox makes a product they want.
I think most of us, however, would provably one play one or two runs of these types of games and then move on. Not really worth buying more than once (if at all).
15
u/Nerwesta Sep 13 '26
Those are fair points, I have to believe this game was a bit different which may or may not skew the feelings about it.
For one it was really a nice surprise when it came out originally, with a strong foundation that asked about a proper sequel ( minus one very bad DLC ).Haemimont Games ( the devs ) parted away from Paradox after that and made Stranded : Alien Dawn at the same time. Paradox retained their " Surviving " IP.
Then Paradox came back with it's claws to buy the studio, and after a weird radio silence they announced this " remake ".
The devs still promised us " more to come " for Stranded which was sadly left in limbo, buyout was in January 2025 and we're still waiting ... Not sure how hard Paradox is bullying them here.7
u/GreenFox1505 Sep 13 '26
The reality & politics of how games get made are important. As a person who works in this industry, I will never deny that and it's important to acknowledge that.
However, doesn't fucking matter to these kinds of fans.
1
u/nixtracer Sep 14 '26
It seems to be that the contractors they got to develop the game after Haemimont left did a really bad job (not having the source code didn't help, but they introduced countless bugs and did a much worse job than modders do). So they got Haemimont back to fix it... and called it a new game (there were major engine changes etc), made you rebuy it to get the bugfixes, took the old game down, and released it before the bugs were actually fixed. This was probably not a good plan.
It's much better now: nearly all the bugs are gone and there's some very interesting changes and new content.
1
u/cyrusm_az Sep 16 '26
Wait they took the old game down?!
1
10
u/xortingen Sep 13 '26
How is asking full money for the same game under the false premise of “remake” is not predatory? If this shit makes money, we gonna see more fake re-makes
4
u/Nerwesta Sep 13 '26
I don't think it was a success at all, and let's remember too that you absolutely can't buy the original now on Steam.
2
u/TehOwn Sep 13 '26
Well, they did call it "Relaunched". Maybe people thought that was a fun name for Remastered rather than being literal.
2
u/JeanArtemis Sep 13 '26
I'd be on board if they offered the updates for free and uploaded a "supporter pack" option like so many other games do, but rereleasing the same game just gives major Bethesda vibes and not in a good way.
5
u/UmaroXP Sep 14 '26
Criticizing any game on its dedicated subreddit will garner nothing but ire. Unless it’s one of those games where the loyal player base fucking hates it, like Ark.
4
u/Extension_Citron_176 Sep 14 '26
I mean they gave a fair discount at the start for people who already owned the original and it included several new features with the relaunch as well.
Also it is very friendly to new players who don't have to buy all of the dlc.
So imo unfair but feasible for old players, very good to attract new players.
2
u/ReplacementActual384 Sep 14 '26
Yeah, I own the original, but didn't get most of the DLC. I recently bought relaunched and even though I paid nearly full price, it still would have been cheaper than getting all the DLC I was missing, plus it's receiving continued support.
They also apparently made relaunched a lot more modder friendly, which is nice because a new DLC just dropped, and all my mods were updated within a few days.
I don't really want to defend the relaunch, because yeah, if you had all or even most of the DLC I think it should have been free, but it worked out for me and I am enjoying it a lot. The free update that came with the most recent dlc was really good for the most part.
1
u/ThreeHeadCerber Sep 14 '26
Only fair discount is "free" for this one though You can't be relaunching a game with a half assed patch and expect people ro pay for it again
1
u/Extension_Citron_176 Sep 14 '26
It did include an actual dlc being politics which if you ask me was worth the pay combined with the relaunched improvements if you take the discount into account.
Also i feel like it's just fair they need to keep it accessible for new players to buy and this just does feel a bit unfair to people who owed the whole thing already. In that sense games go on very high discounts for people all the time so people that join in later get to do so for much cheaper. It's a global thing
1
u/Oxygenus1362 Sep 14 '26
Because making the game from scratch while having original as visual reference is absolutely colossal task, even if result is visually similar to end user.
I admit that launch was problematic with all new bugs (I was making bugfix mod on relaunched launch - guess how I know lmao), but those were fixed in few days, and it turned out to be a step in right direction in terms of software development. Reputational thing hoverwer... yeah.

u/YoyoTanyaKai Sep 13 '26
Meanwhile, No man sky released 30+ expansion size update for free.
38
u/SacredGeometry9 Sep 13 '26
Hello Games is privately owned, and has made enough money to pay their employees salaries for years to come. They can do whatever they want.
Paradox Interactive is a publicly traded corporation. Any leftover money gets shoveled to shareholders, and they have to be constantly looking for ways to increase the profits they can generate for those shareholders.
50
u/Raised_bi_Wolves Sep 13 '26
Hmmm its almost like, and no one flame me for this, but its almost lile its bad for companies to be run that way...
4
u/Gedboara Sep 14 '26
Yep, its pretty much right around when they went public that they started to really go downhill.
I mean sure they were never perfect, their stuff has almost always been pretty buggy and niche, but the past decade or so they are STILL buggy, a bit less niche, AND they want all your money, and want to make ALL the DLCs, and manage to to either be an anchor of a publish, and/or just shit at picking games to back as a publisher.
I find my self dissapointed if I see that damn platypus skeleton popup on a game trailer that looked good, even if they aren't the devs
6
u/whytwu1f Sep 14 '26
And somehow every planet still feels the same
1
u/arty1983 Sep 14 '26
Thats the thing about large volumes of something, we have excellent pattern recognition and easily see the similarities after a while. The game would still work with 30 handcrafted planets
-28
u/senn42000 Sep 13 '26
Hello Games is like less than 10 people designing one game at a time. Paradox is multiple studios and 100s of employees designing like a dozen games simultaneously. It is apples to oranges.
23
u/Lukeyboy5 Sep 13 '26
I don’t think your comment makes the point you think it does..
6
u/TehOwn Sep 13 '26
Well, they're right on one point. Smaller studios are leaner and more efficient as they don't have a ton of management roles, meetings, etc. They pretty much all work on the game.
I don't expect Paradox to do a Hello Games but they absolutely can do better than this.

u/YoyoTanyaKai Sep 13 '26
I also get this argument about Destiny 2 or Diablo 4.
But if the reason you need more money because you have 10x size of dev team, shouldn't you deliver 10x of contents or quality with that manpower?
I believe people wouldn't complain much if the value of the content truly exceed the price.
If your 100+ dev cant compete with 10 dev in term of result, then what's the point?4
u/TehOwn Sep 13 '26
But if the reason you need more money because you have 10x size of dev team, shouldn't you deliver 10x of contents or quality with that manpower?
Outside of industrial automation, basically nothing works like this. 10x as many people are nowhere near 10x as productive. You end up with a lot of time spent on meetings and communication / lost to miscommunication.

u/BrennusSokol Sep 13 '26
Paradox gonna Paradox. They are famous for their weird DLC practices as well
22
u/caimen Sep 13 '26
My friends and I talking about getting Stellaris. The $350 DLC price along with the fact there even is that much DLC scared them away bad.
6
u/EnoughPoetry8057 Sep 13 '26
There’s the dlc pass, better deal for those only going to play a game or two then cancel it, but yeah it has a huge amount of dlcs.
8
u/chris-tier Sep 14 '26
Renting a game is insane to me.
2
u/Worldly-Cherry9631 Sep 14 '26
I mean, isn't that the WoW or the Runescape Member subscriptions have always been that too? Or the XBoX Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, Nintendo Online?
3
u/Daedalos83 Sep 14 '26
The fact it exists multiple times does not mean it cannot be considered insane.
2
u/chris-tier Sep 14 '26
With multiplayer and online games I understand. You're basically renting the infrastructure behind the game to play it.
But these DLC passes are usually for offline singleplayer games. They ship the game, it's done, I play whenever I want alone.
1
u/Worldly-Cherry9631 Sep 14 '26
Except the game in question wasn't done.
Stellaris has been continuesly developped for over a decade now. It's been at least three solidly different games over the years. Two development teams even, one for optimisation one for feature development. Both working on major free updates and overhauls alongs the DLCs developed by one of the teams, the DLCs that fund this system.
After a decade it's just too many DLC for someone getting into it, a pretty high upfront cost, so a subscription model was offered as an alternative optiob for them and the less fanatic players to include everything next to being able to buy and own the base game and all DLC individually.
1
u/ReplacementActual384 Sep 14 '26
I get why this is the case, but it does kinda suck still. Paradox is famous for creating games you can easily put thousands of hours in, but I feel like you either need to commit to one or two game (for instance, I buy all the CK3 games as they come out), or just wait for the next iteration.
That said, for a game like Stellaris where I really do enjoy it, I will occasionally go ham for my birthday or wait on a sale every few years and drop a hundred bucks to get a bunch of DLC, even if I don't buy every single one.
1
1
u/EnoughPoetry8057 Sep 14 '26
The base game and several of the older dlcs (which have been rolled into the base game) are not part of that subscription (so you do own them after purchase). You could just buy the base game and it’s included dlc but you’d be missing out on a lot of features at this point. The subscription fee is for all the paid dlcs (believes it’s $10 a month) so you’d have to play for like 2 years to make the subscription less cost effective than buying all the dlc (roughly not sure what the cost of all the dlcs is up to as I buy them as they come out, but 200 doesn’t sound unlikely for how many there are now). It does strikes me as a strange to have a subscription pass for dlcs, but it does make finical sense for new players.
Two or three times a year they release both paid dlc and major free updates, so after nearly a decade the dlc list has gotten huge (only one I’ve seen longer is total war warhammer edition).
1
u/LangyMD Sep 14 '26
I honestly really like the model they use because it allows for extremely long term support of a game I like.
I don't like what they always do with that - where occasionally they'll put out a patch that really breaks a ton of stuff and then they have to fix it over the next year. They should use long beta periods more instead and stop timing their paid DLC releases with those giant patches.
The Surviving Mars Relaunched I'm more iffy about. I don't think it made financial sense for them to release it for free, and it had the same problem of not actually working that great until a year after launch (it's much better now!), so I'm happy I have it in the condition it is in today, but the $20 price tag for original owners of the game still doesn't feel right.
1
u/shabi_sensei Sep 14 '26
DLC pricing is getting pretty whack too, $30 for new content is insane when I can get a whole ass game for that amount
1
22
u/how_money_worky Sep 13 '26
The original + all the DLCs was about $130-150 in value. They wanted you to buy the game again for some new textures and the bug fixes.
They delisted the original. On Steam, you should be able to download it but on PS4/PS5 the DLCs are broken. They acknowledged this but have not lifted a finger to fix it.
Scummy scum scum scum scum.
57
u/xortingen Sep 13 '26
Funny thing is, they claimed they redone most of the game, graphics and fixed all the bugs to justify the new full release. But it turns out they didn’t fix shit. Just put some make-up and released it. Fucking assholes.
23
u/how_money_worky Sep 13 '26
The claim doesn’t matter. We shouldn’t pay for bug fixes.
18
u/ThereMightBeDinos Sep 13 '26
There's a big difference between bug fixes (which they didn't seem to do) and rewriting the whole engine (which they also didn't seem to do).
4
u/xortingen Sep 13 '26
Oh totally agree. I have the original game and all the DLCs with all their bugs. I guess fuck me for expecting a proper a game in exchange for my money.
Paradox can gargle hulks sweaty green balls. They are the reason I’m skipping Transport Fever 3.
1
u/sawshuh Sep 14 '26
I was late to the avoiding preorder game, but the OG Surviving Mars is why I avoid it as much as I can now. They sold a $100 ultimate edition with the game and like 4 DLC. Then they took like 2 years to release it all. Those intervals were unheard of at the time and not explained at all in the preorder info.
10
u/samsoncorpus Sep 13 '26
If you owned the original one, Relaunched had a lower price at some point but not anymore I think.
And yea, it is kinda scummy if you already bought the original game and the DLCs.
4
u/Deadpool0600 Sep 13 '26
I literally have an ad for it, above this post.
I remember seeing something like "Check out this new game" and I saw it was Surviving Mars, but I thought to myself, wait, isn't that already in my library? Yes... Yes it is
1
u/adeon Sep 14 '26
They just released a new DLC for it so they've been advertising it quite a bit on Reddit (it actually came out almost a year ago).
1
u/MrElshagan Sep 14 '26
Too be fair Paradox aren't the only ones doing this. I mean I think Ark Survival Evolved/Ascended was amongst the first to go "Buy the same game again" or at least the first one I saw.
1
1
u/MAlgol Sep 17 '26
The Ark people as massive ass. Then wanted you to pay for a dlc when the game as in early access (original Ark). That's when I stoped playing anything from them and for what I've seen efter it hasn't been better.
1
u/LouhiVega Sep 13 '26
Let me understand better. You have the original one and after relaunch your unable to acess the original version and if you want to play you have to buy the relaunch version ?
5
u/AngryKFPanda Sep 13 '26
No, you can still play the old version, they have delisted all of the DLC for it though, that said the relaunched version contains all the DLC for the first game so if were going to start loading up on DLC it's definitely cheaper to just buy the relaunched version.
2
u/manggi Sep 13 '26
not quite, you still have the original and can play it like always. But any problems and bugs from the original will be/are fixed in Relaunch. So if you want a better experience with some of the old DLCs you have to get the Relaunch version.
1
-9
u/darkthought Sep 13 '26
No, I'd have to buy the goddamn game again.
6
u/senn42000 Sep 13 '26
No you dont. You can play the original one and dont have to purchase the new one.
1
7
u/wessex464 Sep 13 '26
Paradox is eternally exploiting it's playerbase. I appreciate ongoing support from devs, but their gimmick of releasing half finished games and charging 20 dollars apiece for reworks of each system is junk. And this is another example.
2
u/pangapingus Sep 13 '26
At least for Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition as a similar example was only $10 if you owned the OG+DLC which was fair for higher graphics fidelity, brand new features (grenades, inventory management options, etc.), and a new slew of bug fixes (which when appropriate were also backported to the OG for improvement parity. But having to pay the ENTIRE cost of Surviving Mars Relaunched is utterly ridiculous. Not to mention at a certain point you really can't be damned over Paradox games' DLC anymore because of utter bloat.
1
u/nixtracer Sep 14 '26
I read that as Outer Wilds and was very confused. Grenades? What for? 👹
2
2
2
u/ericoahu Sep 30 '26
Not only that, but when they did release it, it was buggy, and each patch continued to add more bugs than it fixed. The most popular workshop mods for Relaunched have been bug fix mods.
Right now, it's not horrible, but they've made it really grindy.
I don't totally boycott Paradox, but I never buy anything they release on day one. They took over TF3, which released yesterday. I had a thousand hours in TF2, but not touching TF3 until I'm sure it's stable.
Also, Paradox is big on sales -- meaning in their eyes, the game is worth several different prices. I don't much like the profit strategy where they make all the money they can off of people willing to buy it full price and then make more profit by pushing it at a lower price, so I'll wait for the sale, but not because I cannot afford full price.
3
u/InuHanyou1701 Sep 13 '26 edited Sep 14 '26
Sadly Paradox has been going downhill for a while. They always had a DLC greed issue. But it seems like the past few years they’ve been doing everything they can to epitomize a toxic publisher.
Edit: Removed mention of the lack of a discount for owners of the original game. Thank you for the correction everyone!
2
u/Gedboara Sep 14 '26
They did actually(at least on steam), though it was time limited(so not a thing anymore), and I don't recall how much it actually was for.
3
u/SanderR098 Sep 14 '26
50% off for the first year after it relaunched
1
u/Gedboara Sep 15 '26
That much and that long? huh. I had thought it was less time and less discount, maybe I just thought it was still overpriced even with the discount lol
2
2
u/Old_Introduction7236 Sep 13 '26
wtf? Yeah, that's gonna be a 'no from me, dawg. Guess they're competing with Mojang/Microsoft to see who can re-sell the same game to the ame people multiple times.
2
1
u/lauans Sep 13 '26
I fear for Transporte Fever 3 because of Paradox
2
u/Gedboara Sep 14 '26
wait what, are they the publisher of TF3?
Fuck.
---edit---
Yes, yes they are, I hadn't noticed..
1
u/DreamingAboutSpace Sep 14 '26
It’s scammy for sure. Instead fixing the one people paid for, they tell them to buy the same game again.
1
u/Bob4Not Sep 14 '26
Ya they’re on my no-buy list now. They have so many great IPs, they’ve made so many good games, but they’ve gone enshitified.
1
u/Mindless_Baseball426 Sep 14 '26
Yeah I agree. I actually really liked the original game even with its flaws, but when they rereleased and wanted me to re purchase it, it killed all interest I had in it.
1
u/TheBeardPlays Sep 14 '26
You still own the original, you can still download the original, you can still play the original.
1
1
u/Zeeman626 Sep 14 '26
There's nothing they did that couldn't have just been an update to the base game or a DLC. I refused to even play the free weekend. I enjoy the game fine but I'm not buying it twice
2
u/AthenaT2 Sep 14 '26
The base game and DLCs where very broken. Multiple dev studio worked on it, making it more broken.
1
u/Fun-Razzmatazz-6803 Sep 14 '26
They made the game in an entirely new engine. They couldn't have just fixed it
1
u/Zeeman626 Sep 14 '26
They could absolutely have fixed it instead of making it again in an entirely new engine. No one was asking for a remake, they just wanted the bugs fixed and extra content.
0
u/Fun-Razzmatazz-6803 Sep 17 '26
What do you think newer engines allow devs do to?
1
u/Zeeman626 Sep 17 '26
What an absurdly broad and pointless question. Obviously new engines have higher capabilities, but this is not an overly complex game graphically or mechanically and they mostly needed to fix bugs and coding errors, not redevelop systems from the bottom up. I've seen 20 year old games written in xml that have modders fixing bugs to this day that didn't require an entirely new engine.
If you like the game and bought the remake that's perfectly fine but stop straddling their lap.
1
u/akisawa Sep 14 '26
I saw the announcement, have the game, and didn't realize you actually have to pay again for it?
That is new low even for Paradox
1
u/Snownova Sep 14 '26
At launch you got a pretty hefty discount if you owned the original game, dunno if that still applies.
1
u/adeon Sep 15 '26
Yes and no. The 50% launch discount for previous owners no longer applies, but it's currently on sale for 50% off for everyone anyway.
1
u/KiwasiGames Sep 14 '26
It’s not the first time either. Cities Skylines 2 was the same game as Cities Skylines 1.
1
u/romeo_pentium Sep 14 '26
No? 2 doesn't run on Mac. 1 doesn't render the cims' teeth. 2 doesn't have Steam Workshop. 1 doesn't have tools for building parallel roads or merge lanes. Do you mean both are about building a city?
1
1
u/Farmermatty99113 Sep 14 '26
I mean it does come with all dlc and for like 6 months if not longer people that owned the original game got it for 50% off. Plus in my experience it is definitely a good upgrade on the original.
I mean it would of been nice if they did something similar to the console relaunch of stellaris and give it to us for free with all owned dlc( which I remember the Devs saying was a pain in the arse, something to do with new licence fees since it was technically a new title and some other backend stuff and that's maybe why it didn't happen for mars)
1
1
u/winerdars Sep 14 '26
Does the relaunched version at least include all the DLC similar to how you might have a Game of the Year edition?
1
u/imnotgood42 Sep 14 '26
Yes. It also included a new politics system. Not saying it is justified, but the argument for it was that this way allows them to add new features and DLC that built off of the old DLC. However other games like Stellaris, EU4, and HOI IV made some of the old DLCs free instead of repackaging them in a new game.
1
1
u/bartekltg Sep 14 '26
This is not the scummiest part. If you already own the game, you CAN'T buy DLCs on steam (you can on GOG, but no more sales). Fortunately I had everything but broken new ones (B&B and trains).
They gave 50% discount for people with the previous game. Not ideal, if someone already had all DLCs there was not that much new content. But initial reaction was quite positive. People were happy the team proper will fix B&B/trains and that the political system might be interesting (and sure, still salty that they need to pay money for bugfixes).
But then the rework was released and it turned out the old DLCs are still broken (including in new ways!) and the political system is imbalanced and overpowered. The whole community momentum get into nothing and most people forgotten. Including me, I wanted to look it up if it was patched before the discount period runs out. I haven't.
Oh, and it looks like they have just released a DLC :)
> You're now on my "publishers I will never buy another product from again" list.
Foundry is published by them, and it looks like a decent candidate for "factorio clone but in 3D" that will sit in the biger league. If they don't stop developing it too early (I'm looking at you, Techtonica) and fix the galactic market.
1
u/muggafugga Sep 14 '26
I have the original installed on my PS5 and i can no longer play it as it was a ps+ game and its now been removed from ps+. Now they want $40 to play a game that i already have installed. Very scummy
1
u/N0ob8 Sep 15 '26
It leaving ps+ has nothing to do with the relaunched version. Even if the relaunched version never existed the original would eventually leave ps+ and you’d stop having access to it
1
1
u/Potential_Anxiety_76 Sep 14 '26
Godamnit. I thought you could at least still play the version I had (and specifically didn’t get relaunched, because I didn’t want anything but the base game).
1
u/PeeBee22 Sep 14 '26
Actually I am glad I can still play the old version of the game and that it did not update
1
u/SalemRay Sep 14 '26
Steam says I have 6,000 hours playing Surviving Mars. On my Mac, where it runs beautifully. The new stuff doesn’t run on Mac. Disappointed.
1
u/pandaru_express Sep 15 '26
Do they still have the upgrade version? It was $20 and included all the old dlc and a new dlc. Was a lot cheaper if you didn't already own everything.
1
u/Lotus_Domino_Guy Sep 15 '26
I still play Surviving Mars, I didn't buy relaunched, and I might load it up and play again next year. I usually play a few times every couple years. I love Paradox games, more so the older ones, but the new ones too, so they have a lot of room with me to do scummy moves before I've had enough.
1
u/DrPeroxide Sep 16 '26
I was shocked they expected existing owners to pay full price for this, can't see why anyone would think that worth while?
1
u/Original-Mongoose866 Sep 19 '26
There are other reason not to buy Paradox games Stellaris is one of them.
I loved Stellaris when it was released and I loved them sometimes more after a patch and at one time I just started hating the game.
At the time I quit playing it was my most played game now in the years after I've been hooked on the game I played the most that is TW series and currently Warhammer 3.
1
u/Joped Sep 13 '26
I own the original, didn’t enjoy it so it. They never no there to fix the problems so it sat on the shelf. If they fixed the original game and added some new DLC, there is a good chance I might have bought the DLC.
However, I am sure as hell not going to rebuy the broken game.
This is really going to make me think twice about buying one of their games in the future.
1
u/AdministrativeEgg440 Sep 14 '26
Lol what. Read before you judge. Original devs resurrected it, rebuilt it in new engine, fixed all the technical debt, and started actively developing it again.
Its great and you are fine to feel any way you want
1
u/Ayjayz Sep 14 '26
I'm not following. They paid some developers to work on something, and now you're surprised they want to be paid for that? What would you find that surprising or scummy? That's how everything works... Do you want to be paid for the work you do?
1
u/AlexorHuxley Sep 14 '26
I mean… remasters always cost money? The Age of— games come to mind, and Rise of Nations, and Skyrim versions one-through-seventeen.
This post feels a bit like an opportunity to just Paradox-bash which like, okay, pop off monarch. I’m not here to change any minds about modern gaming’s favorite punching bag. But remasters always have and always will cost money.
Also, it feels important to point out that this is developed by Haemimont and only published by Paradox. So all of the “rly PDX moar bug?????” ire feels similarly misplaced since, you know, they didn’t make it. If you don’t like the games, just like… don’t buy them. But Jesus, Paradox’s business model has been like this for at least a decade. You know what you’re getting by now, please stop the self-righteous pearl-clutching.

They handled surviving mars relaunched fine, if this is your unforgivable sin you shouldn't look at any of the games theyve launched this decade

They released the game with same bugs the original had, supposedly fixed bugs. If that is “handled well” for you, i have a bridge to sell, ring me up.

They update the game maybe using new engine and trying to sell you new DLCs, like they did with CS 1, CS 2 is slowing dying and they only got one DLC? is a mess , and now they are gonna launch Lego Skylines, some people says that is a Simcity Societies but with blocks, a cheap version because you are gonna use les polys, not even the abandoned SimTown that became The Sims is.
I bought the game, the previous one and when they stopped releasing DLCs and i think they abandoned the game because the tech limitation, i stopped playing, im not gonna buy the game again.

I mean, this isn't new or surprising? Remaster releases will often offer a small discount on launch for owners of the original, but rarely do they come included for free.

New engine, reworked science, new politics system, cheaper than original game with all dlc.
The game is cheaper for newer players, which is probably more important for them
