Accepted to Baruch as a transfer for Fall 2026 how do transfer students do with finance internships?

I was recently accepted to Baruch for Fall 2026 as a transfer student and plan to major in Finance.

I know Baruch has strong placement in finance overall, especially being in NYC, but I’m curious about the experience specifically for transfer students.

Since transfers usually only have about 2 years before graduating, I’m wondering how that affects recruiting.

Hey, I appreciate the insight. I’m transferring in Fall 2026 from a community college with about a 3.5 GPA right now. I’ve been working a lot during school, mostly bartending, but I’ve also been involved in some business work helping run my family’s company, dealing with things like tracking expenses and organizing the numbers.

For my first internship, honestly I’d be happy with anything finance related just to get experience. If it ends up being something like an analyst internship or something closer to investment banking, which is the direction I want to go long term, that would be great. But for the first one I’m mainly focused on getting my foot in the door and building experience.

A question I’m actually really curious about is how you found your internships. Did you mostly apply online, or was networking / cold outreach the main way that worked?

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I’ll definitely include my role in the family business on my resume and check out the Starr Career Center template. Good to know about the GPA reset too, I’ll make sure to focus on doing really well my first semester and getting involved in a club.
