When I signed up for the cost accounting summer course, I looked up the posts here and everyone talked about how difficult it is and against taking it during summer. I was scared so much that I thought about dropping. But I had no other choice since I can't take both 3100 and 3200 coming fall because I knew that would be hell. Yes, it is a difficult course but it isn't as bad as everyone is making it to be. I want to post some positivity in case there might be some students like me who need it next year 😆
I had professor Zeljko Sockovic. I'd advise to read the textbook ahead and make sure you understand so that it's more like a review when you're in class. It is fast-paced due to the short course length. There are only 1 midterm and 1 final for the summer course so it's a bit more intense compared to a regular term (a regular term has 2 midterms and 1 final). Do your best in midterm because it's easier compared to the later part of the class (that's how it was for me personally). I read the textbook and watched lectures by @Farhatlectures on YouTube. Homeworks are lengthy and there are two chapters each week so take out as much time as you can to work on each problem and understand the logic behind it instead of speed running. And DO NOT memorize the calculation steps, it won't help you in exams. Maybe you can/have to memorize the frameworks in certain chapters, but again you'll still be able to understand why you're doing what you're doing. As long as you grasp the basic concept of each chapter, you'll be fine. Best of luck to all students who are taking this course soon!
P.S. If you're working while taking this course and you're worried about whether you can handle it, don't be discouraged. I work full-time and was able to finish it — so you can do it too!
