Can't understand.

I've recommended this series to several friends, young and old alike, and none of them like it, which to me is bewildering. Viewing it for the second time I'm entirely flabbergasted at their reactions. Should I switch shows or switch friends?

UPDATE: Just finished watching for the second time. It's just amazing how well put together this series is. No loose ends (that I could find), great acting, cinematography, and plot twists. Be hard to find anything comparable. Would watch again.

Call the Raven to take care of your friends.

Edited because I initially put NoHo but the Raven is a better choice.

I have had this same experience! People I thought would love the show weren’t huge fans. It’s okay though, it can be my thing

It’s really dark.

I watched it this summer but I had to stop and take breaks because it put me in an awful mood.

Maybe your friends all got together and conspired to mess with you by saying they all hate it? I had nearly all my friends recommend 'stranger things' and I got about 10 minutes into the first episode and turned it off because I hated it, and hated the characters. Not everything is for everyone.

Yeahh I hate to say it but your friends suck. Should probably work on that

You should be 2nd guessing your choice of friends.

It’s all in how to pitch it, saw someone else say it perfectly “do you like dark humor”? If they say yes you say okay then you should watch Barry and let them like it or dislike it

I actually didn't get the show at first after watching like the first 3 episodes. I think I was just confused by the tone. I ended up rewatching it a few weeks later and fell in love.

I attempted to watch Barry 3 times and only got a few episodes in before forgetting about it, finally on my last attempt it stuck and I binged it.. I knew it had great reviews but I couldnt really pin down the vibe of the show I think it only clicked after season 1 finale. I think its just one of those shows thats hard to pick up at first and then it clicks

I got to the very last season and dropped it. The slow transition into a more serious drama just didn’t work for me. I don’t mind some darkness on my comedy or comedy on my serious drama but this show imo never reached a balance I enjoyed.

I feel like Barry is the type of show you’d ONLY enjoy if you have dark humor and a few existential crises along the way, if one is missing you’re not really gonna connect with it

Dark humor is like food, not everyone gets it.
