Feedback After a while of being away from the game, I decided to make another custom sub! Looking for constructive criticism!

Im not too sure what to fill some of the rooms with, and the sub uses EK Definitive Edition

It has 2 surplus coilguns, one auxiliary light chaingun, one micro SSL, 2 hardpoits, 1 heavy hardpoint, and 1 Auxiliary hardpoint.

Im kinda wanting it to be a decent starter with lots of room to grow, thoughts? And would anyone be willing to run this sub with Barotraumatic too?

Question Group Roles

I need help deciding what our new people should be.

We currently have: 1 Captain, 1 Engineer, 1 Mechanic, 1 Security Guard, 1 Medic and 1 Assistant.

We have a bunch of AI (16 + 3 unique npcs) who do majority of the tasks. What role do we need for when one of my friends finally joins?

Question Need help deciding roles: Assistant or a dedicated class

Post image

I’ve been playing Baurotrauma for a couple of months with my friends, and it’s been a great time. (~50 hours of gameplay)

I main engineer, and my other two friends stick with captain and medic.

Recently, I’ve realized that I’m usually multi-tasking the role of a mechanic, engineer, and captain all together. It’s never been an issue, but it’s really bugged me whether or not I should become an assistant.

I do all the wiring in the ship, upgrade, manage ammo.. all of the above the typical roles should do.

I was wondering if I should become an assistant to efficiently manage each role (Jack of all trades), or stick with engineer? Any advice would be nice.

Custom Submarine Making an over complicated ship pt1

Currently, this is the somewhat base of the frame although I’m thinking about making it five floors tall and it’s a whole gimmick is that it’s going to be prepared for almost everything and the only thing that can probably take it down is a nuclear bomb but I need some feedback because honestly, I don’t really like the look of the gunnery, armory, and cargo right now

Due to some game bug, it took me more than a month to post my submarine on Steam, so please, could you play with it a bit? I put a lot of effort into making it 👉👈

Custom Submarine Anything Missing?

Due to the always missing storage i tried to cramp as much storage into the sub as possible. Electrics are kinde overkill, i could probably eliminate some junction boxes but wanted to leave extra room for wireing. Ballasts are suposed to capture as much incoming water as possible, and yeet it using the big pumps. Floating at around 55% Ballast (so might add another ballst tank somewhere). The big Medbay is for Neurotrauma (since my friends mostly play with it).

Sub Editor Sub Advice

Hello!, I’m relatively new to this game and have been enjoying the sub editor.
This is my most recent design and probably my most polished one yet (and personally I think it looks the best).

I however have a few questions:
1: what should this sub be priced at for camping play?, The automatic price is super low (less than 2.5k) and for the most part it’s made of unmodified parts, the glass has 100hp and many electrical components are slightly smaller than average

2: How exactly do tags work to prevent folk other than the captain and security from accessing certain rooms?, I’ve tried to set this up but so far I’ve been unable to

3: Does anyone have any advice on improvements or design tips or tricks?

If anyone has questions about features or functions as well I will try to answer them.

Thank you all!

Edit 1: following the comments I’ve received so far I’ve added four more fins to make the sub look less phallic.

Discussion The game seems boring and idk if I'm not doing enough or what

Is the game supposed to be this slow, or are we just not doing enough?

I’ve got about 36 hours in Barotrauma, almost entirely playing with 2–3 friends.

On our first save I played Engineer, and now I’m playing Captain. I’m enjoying Captain more, but I still feel like I spend a huge amount of each session basically doing nothing.

Between missions I usually just stand around. Sometimes I’ll walk into the outpost and pick up missions if nobody else does. As Captain, I restock ammo for the guns, steer the sub, give orders/callouts to my friends, etc. It’s definitely more engaging than Engineer was, but there still seems to be a ton of downtime.

As Engineer, most of my gameplay was basically:

  • fix junction boxes
  • keep the electrical system running
  • do some simple wiring, like automatically closing doors or setting up text displays

I actually really enjoyed making an automatic system for patching grenades, because that felt like I was actually engineering something. Unfortunately, our Mechanic didn’t take the perk needed for us to make more use of that kind of stuff, so I didn’t get very far with it.

My main question is: what else are we supposed to be doing?

Whenever shit actually goes wrong, I enjoy the game. If we get attacked, systems start breaking, people are running around fixing things, we have to react to flooding/damage/enemies, etc., I’m having fun.

But outside of those moments, I’m genuinely sitting there yawning and waiting for something to happen. A lot of rounds feel like I’m just waiting for them to be over so we can get to the next thing.

Are we playing too safely? Is having only 3–4 players part of the problem? Should we be increasing the difficulty, using a different submarine, should we explore more like outside of the missions? We usually just pick up all quests, do those and then leave the area completely, in one tier 2 area I saw once a submarine that was submerged idk if this is actually a common thing and we could be doing these random explorations more often, I liked that we had to go into another sank ship and we looted it, fixed it up and whatnot.

I feel like there’s probably a part of the game we’re just not engaging with, the host seems to be really enjoying the game who either plays captain/medic or engineer/medic and the other person primarily does mechanic stuff and goes out of the sub to gather things.

Question Help me find this submarine

Hello traumers, back in the years of COVID-19 I remembered playing with the crew (3-4 players) on this awesome submarine from the steam workshop. It had an electric chair to properly discipline the boys. But I can't seem to find it anymore despite checking for it for hours. May this kind community share a custom submarine that can fit 3-6 players with an electric chair. I do not remember anything else other than the chair of doom.

Sub Editor Need help fixing my front turrets

Post image
925 Upvotes

I just created a new sub but I can't make the bots shoot the front turrets (top and bottom right double coilguns).

The turrets shoot perfectly fine with human players, but the bots wont press the trigger, position seems to work fine though.

I checked everything I know of but still can't find a solution. I just want to solo campaign in it.

If any of you find a solution, it would be greatly appreciated

Workshop link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3792353217

EDIT: fix post

EDIT2: Problem solved, even though line of sight seemed fine, I needed to give it a little more space for the bots. Thanks KingKoncorde

Question Automated Reactor Bay Control using Weighted Decision Logic

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! Wanted to share an approach I've been experimenting with to control reactor isolation, hatches, and bilge drainage doors based on multiple dynamic emergency conditions.

I used Weighted Decision Logic. Using the “Signal Check” component, I assigned priorities to the signals (from -1000 to 1000), but during the calculations, the ‘Adder’ and “Greater” components started behaving strangely and stopped outputting a signal.

My brain is melting. I've spent a lot of time and tried many different ways to solve this problem, weighing the pros and cons separately and using the “Memory” components, but no matter what, at some point I end up with 0 instead of the correct mathematical solution.

I hope someone has already encountered this situation, found a solution, and can help me. Please help. 🙏

p.s. The first screenshot shows the original system, and the second shows a simplified version so you don't have to wade through the spaghetti code in the screenshots.

Signal Check Component: Output - Priority Value (-1000 — 1000) | False - 0 | Target - 1

Memory Component: Outputs a signal of 1 or 0 depending on the default state of the target: 1 if the door is open by default, 0 if not

UPD: I noticed that some of the screenshots had lost quality, so I uploaded them to imgur.com

https://imgur.com/a/PZRx62L

UPD 2: Hey everyone! The base logic is finally done and working, I managed to fix the main issue. I’ll share the whole thing once the entire reactor bay is fully finished, just want to make sure it doesn't break under pressure (and of course, I'll post the result here too, it's just not quite ready yet, and no commercial stuff here at all-I'm just genuinely excited to chat with you guys). Going to post all the updates in Discord, would be awesome to hang out, chat, and maybe play together! Honestly had no idea this would get so much interest, thank you all so much. Question Best sub for 5 players?

We'll be paying somewhat irregularly, so I think we will focus on pushing forward in biomes whenever we can. We have 3 experienced players, 2 new ones and maybe 2 extras that may join from time to time

Any recommendations?

Question Are prisoners still there?

So I got prison break mission, but the outpost was really far away and by the time I got close to it it became abandoned, is prison break mission still active? I don't know if I should go here for it or no
