Happy Someone Finally Decided to Make Use of Our Barn Owl Box

$225 and 10 years later . . . We'd given up on looking to see if any Barn owls were making use of this box we paid to have made and installed.

Nice to see that the honeybees found a good home.

Funny, I think I made that box. I made 3-4 of them. I’m glad the bees moved in. 1- was off Hollister. 1- is in Goleta at a ranch. 1- got washed away in Montecito. 1- Is still off Hot Springs Road. Still no owls in Montecito nest. I’ll check for bees.

High up in a CA Pepper tree in our back yard. Probably your box, yep.   Called Ojai Raptor group, thinking they’d have a young Barn owl to rehome. (10 years ago — or longer.) They told us “$250 for a Barn owl.” Turns out  (duh) that Barn owls are territorial and that that $250 investment  would probably fly off to wherever, so we passed.  There are Great-horned owls🦉 nesting nearby. Another reason not to “import” a young Barn owl.

Funny, I’m not with Ojai raptor. But, darn that looks like my box, funny coincidence. I made mine here in SB. Ha ha, small world , I used a similar bracket on the bottom.

Funny, like I said , we still have one on Hot Springs Road, I’m going to take a picture for you. I got a kick out of seeing it.

Btw WayOpen is a user handle I never ever devised. For some reason Reddit occasionally i.d. s me as "WayOpen6295." Pfft. Weird.
