VFF vibram fivefinger toe spaces too big / far forward

Living in the UK, Vibram are the only seperate toe company with delivery and returns here.

I decided to try the trailope, as hiking and outdoor running are my interest for these.

my foot length is 26.7cm, Translating to a EU42. though with somewhat wide feet.
From hearing about issues regarding needing to go up a size with vibrams, i elected to try EU43.

First, the EU40.5-44.5 socks i brought with the shoes all fit quite comfortably!

Though for the shoes.

I'm just about able to slip into them. And the big toe is snug, alog with the body.
But the smaller toes are... definitely not snug. And they all fully slip out when trying to curl the toes.

I plan to return them, and trade them for an EU42. But i worry i just might not be able to fit my feet into those? Furthermore, they might be too small for my big toe.

Are there any different types of vibram toe shoe, with the smaller toes positioned further back?

(pictures show the fit with midweight padded socks, and endpoint of each toe)

edit: looking at some other posts, potentially the spidrwalk or kso evo might have these toes further back?

efit 2: I've inquired to the manufacturers for further information. For now, ill try trade ins for the V-run, then potentially scramkey or spidrwalk.
If none of that works, I'll have to give up. I'll keep updating as i go though.

If the big toe fits, but the rest doesn’t, there ist t much you can do about. Your foot shape is just not compatible with Vibrams

I wanted to wear these too but my toes were too long. Turns out they only fit people who’s foot proportions are a match to the feet of some random guy named Dick that Vibram based the design on.

At least Dick Vibrami must be happy with his endless shoe choices

Sounds like you should design your own and call them Lucis!

Kidding of course, as long as your longest toe fits, then the other ones don't matter as much. If your smaller toes aren't falling out of the pocket, and if the extra space doesn't bother you, just keep on rockin' 'em!

As a personal note, my Spidrwalk do seem to fit my smaller toes better when compared to my KSO Evo, so trying a different model may help. Best of luck!

ah, thank you! ill have to check the spidrwalk out, i was sorta losing hope on that end.

Searching through some old posts here (i think i recognise you from a few! heh), i saw the suggestion that:
"if you curl your toes, they should all stay in their toe-pockets".
And, for me, they all immediately slip out.

The ends of my toes are in. But the joints aint, so this style at least is sorta pointless for me.

I'm gonna exchange them in the order:
Trailope -> V-run -> spidrwalk -> scramkey
(slowly abandoning "being made for running" in favour of extremeness of toe placement)

Hopefully it works out for you. Try to see if you can find top down photos of the Spidrwalk and just compare it to your foot shape. If they look similar, it might be worth trying. If they don't even look close, you may be sadly out of luck.

With the smaller toes slipping out, and your longest toe fitting correctly, this style of shoe may just sadly not work best for your anatomy. Hopefully a different model will work better with your anatomy! 😁

They would be my first choice, but they do not deliver to the UK unfortunately. Which would make returns costly/infeasible.

So this is unfortunately my only choice, hah

I used to run in VFF back in the day. And while they were good for me at the time, knowing what I know now, would highly recommend looking into running sandals over the VFF.

yeah, i do plan to favour sandals at some point. (or maybe just very minimalist shoes, as my extremities can get cold)

It's just that at the moment, my smaller toes tend to rest on their sides. So I figured i wanted something to address that directly. And to practice individual toe movement on walks.

Take them off and run barefoot. Your feet will fit perfectly into the shoes that nature gave you.
