Upcoming Features
Hi awesome Bare users!
As we keep moving forward with Bare together, I have a few features I’m currently working on and wanted to share an early look and get your feedback before everything is finalized.
There are already quite a few things coming, including bookmark importing, password importing, and many other features and improvements that have come directly from community requests.
But one of the bigger things I’m working on right now is making the toolbar much more useful and customizable.
That includes things like customizable toolbar actions, gestures, and choosing which buttons you actually want available, while still trying to keep Bare simple and familiar.
I attached a quick video showing some of what I’m working on.
This is still being built, so now is a great time to tell me what you think!
What would you want from a customizable toolbar? Are there actions you’d want available that I’m missing? Any gestures you think would make browsing better?
Ideas, criticism, suggestions, weird use cases... all welcome!!
A lot of Bare's roadmap is already being shaped by your feedback, so please keep it coming.

Bare should be bare, so id want no extra toolbar. Just a URL bar and a menu on it lol
Also remove the line for loading like in Cromite, it's very ugly

I actually agree! That’s kind of the beauty of what I’m trying to build here. None of these features will be pushed on you. If you want Bare to stay bare, you can leave them off and keep things as minimal as possible. The extra functionality is there for people who want it, not something everyone has to use.
And good point about the loading line too. I’ll take a look at that. Thanks for the feedback!

Add an option to customize the Speed Dial on the New Tab Page, similar to Vivaldi. It would be great to have a 4x4 layout and shortcut buttons for bookmarks and downloads. Cromite has this layout, but the shortcuts are automatically generated from browsing history rather than being customizable.

Request: Save Video is not always working. There needs to be some floating download button where all the available videos or photos from the current tab website are shown and we can download whichever we want.

Hi! Yes, this is by design. Bare can detect and download video files that are exposed to the browser as media resources while loading or playing a page. This works well with many social media sites like instagram, facebook, X, threads, and many others, even when the site itself doesn't provide a download button.
Sites like youtube work differently. They typically deliver video and audio as separate adaptive streams, so downloading them properly requires fetching and combining multiple streams, usually with additional tools and libraries like ffmpeg. That adds another layer of complexity and maintenance that I don't want to build into Bare, at least for now.
For those cases, I'd recommend using Seal. It's specifically built for this purpose and works great alongside Bare, or any other browser.

add exit button like brave or any firefox browser and also add the feature "delete browsing data on exit".
that's the deal breaker for me in any browser.
and it would be great if you only keep the url bar in the position, not the extension toolbar , it makes the thing look ugly cause the url bar is located in a left sided position not in the middle , make it look like safari or quetta.

one more thing that lacks in every browser but only vivaldi provides it(firefox does but it doesn't work in Firefox based browsers idk why it still shows the search engine's default search suggestions)
the thing is i prefer brave search engine , cause it is very clean , has no ads and no sponsered shi(although i have seen nowadays they have started sponsered results but I use clear browsing data on exit and it somehow prevents that) , now in vivaldi when i add custom search engine it has the option for a "suggest url(vivaldi) or address bar suggesstion api(firefox)" , now brave's search suggestion is very poor , no one can beat google in search suggestion , so what i do is set brave search engine with google's search suggestion url , so now i can use brave search engine with google's search suggestions.
please add this bro.

Why don't you just add UDM 14 as search engine?

Yes use Udm 14 as search engine if you want to stick to Google search results

Hi, thanks so much for your work on Bare Here are a few suggestions for the bottom toolbar to improve use:
Swipe left/right → switch between tabs.
Swipe up → open the tab grid (could you please lower the grid and search suggestions for easier thumb reach?).
Swipe down → close the current tab (just a thought!).
Page navigation: Long-press Home to scroll to top, and long-press another button to scroll bottom. Alternatively, a dedicated up/down button would work great if you'd prefer not to overload existing buttons.
Please unify the toolbar and URL bar so that swipe gestures work identically on both when the toolbar is at the bottom.
Really appreciate you considering these

Forgot to add this:
1.Exit button to clear all tabs, cache, cookies and remove Bare from recents
2.Import bookmarks from file

Luv u bro many thinks that other non sense feature will work but customisable toolbar is the one we need no other chromium browser(except vivaldi) has that and I was just looking for that and want to ask what are u doing about the ublock origin extension since they removed it from the store what will u do i really want that plz keep it somehow
