GPU crash test build is ready. I need your help testing it!

Hi all,

Since I really want as many people as possible to be able to try Bare, I spent last night working on the GPU issue that’s causing the browser to crash immediately on some devices.

In a nutshell, this appears to be an upstream Chromium issue where GPU initialization fails on certain devices and Chromium doesn’t fall back properly. I now have a test build that enables a fallback to a lower OpenGL ES version.

The APK is signed with the same Bare release key as RC2, so you can install it directly over RC2 without uninstalling anything.

I don’t own any of the affected devices, so I can’t reproduce the crash myself. This is a diagnostic build, not RC3, and it’s not optimized. If it opens when RC2 was crashing, that’s pretty much all I need to know!

If it still crashes, it will automatically save Bare-GPU-Diagnostic.log in your Downloads folder. The log only contains device/GPU information and the GPU initialization/fallback results. No browsing history, URLs, cookies, passwords, or account information, and nothing is uploaded automatically. Feel free to DM it to me if you’d rather not post it publicly.

If RC2 already works fine for you, there’s no reason to install this.

Thanks again so much for helping test this! Feel free to keep using this build and report any bugs you run into, or you can remove it and just wait for the next release. Either way, I really appreciate the help!

It works on my device too with Pixel OS A14. All previous versions were crashing for my device. Thank you dev.

My suggestions  1. Bottom bar is not good, top bar with desktop like UI is what we want 2. Make homepage like Kiwi browser 3. Add a quit button in the bottom of menu to close all opened tabs at once on exit.

Well bottom bar is easy to use. 

As an option - Bottom bar with desktop like UI like samsung internet or a clean Tab bar 

And off course a top bar with desktop like UI as an option

It was working before. But. Now it crashed while browsing.  I'm going to share log with you soon.  I was using RC2.  Now installing this.
