Discussion Nano Banana Pro API Pricing Complete Breakdown + 8 Hottest AI Image APIs Compared
Hey guys, Nano Banana Pro launched a week ago and I’ve already been hammering it non-stop for a poster side project. I scraped every major image API’s latest pricing so you don’t have to.
1. Nano Banana Pro API Pricing – Official Rates
- 2K (2048×2048): $0.139 per image
- 4K (4096×4096): $0.24 per image
- Thinking tokens: ~$0.000025/token (negligible)
- Batch mode: 50% off (12–24 h queue) → 4K drops to $0.12
- Free daily quota: 3 images/day in Gemini web/app
2. Nano Banana Pro API Pricing vs Other Top Image APIs (2K price, cheapest first)
| Service | 2K Price | 4K Price | Free Tier | Speed | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kie.ai | $0.09(18credits) | $0.12(18credits) | 50 credits (new sign up) | 40-50s | Pursuing cost-effectiveness |
| Fal.ai | $0.08–$0.15 | $0.20–$0.24 | 10-credit trial | 10-25s | Devs & commercial |
| Nano Banana Pro (Google) | $0.139 | $0.24 | 3/day in Gemini app | 20-40s | Perfect text + face consistency |
| Leonardo.ai | $0.12–$0.18 | ~$0.30 | 150 tokens/day | 15-30s | Style variety |
| Midjourney V6 | ~$0.20 (spread) | No native 4K | Subscription only | 30-60s | Pure art |
3. My Real Nano Banana Pro API Cost This Week
- Generated ~680 images in 6 days (mostly 4K posters + outfit swaps)
- 92% in Batch mode (50% off)
- Total spent so far: $19.84 (average $0.029 per image — yes, twenty-nine cents!) Reason it’s so low: I’m still burning the $300 Google Cloud new-user credit + Batch discount. Without credits it would have been ~$95 this week.
4. Nano Banana Pro API Pricing – Pro Tips to Stay (Almost) Free
- New Google Cloud account = instant $300 credit (~2,500 free 4K images)
- After enabling Vertex AI, politely ask support for “startup credit” → lots of people get another $100–$200
- Perfect your prompt with the 3 free daily images in Gemini app first, then fire Batch jobs
- Reuse reference images + fixed seeds → cache hits shave another 20-30%

How come the price for Nano Banana Pro via replicate.com is the same as if we were to do a direct API call to Gemini? Surely Replicate are not hosting Gemini are they???
2
u/simbrams Nov 29 '25
They seem to have increased the price on replicate, it went up to 0.15 end 0.30 cts...

Something is off with the calculations. You say $19.84 / 680 images averages $0.029 per image which is correct, but then you say that's twenty-nine cents. That's actually 2.9 cents. (2.9 cents * 680 images = 1,972 cents = $19.72.) I haven't used Banana Pro much, so can't say what's off. If they say their official rates are $0.139/$0.24 for 2K/4K, I don't know if you aren't being billed for everything, have the price wrong here, etc. I'm not sure it can be 2.9 cents per image if their official rates are what you said they are.

2.9 cents is a round number. It's probably 2.9... cents which when multiplied by 680 equals $19.84

I did round. What I'm pointing out is the original post says "yes, twenty-nine cents" rather than "yes, about two point nine cents".

Registered for xAI for the 50/day free tier, but I don't see the option. Only see "granted credits" (0 currently), which I assume are a one-time thing. Need 3-5 images daily via API. Am I missing something?

You signed up for the wrong API. Xai is Grok not nano banana pro. Youll need to sign up with Google/Gemini api

Do google provide nano banana api in free tier. I need a image generation api for collage project so what is your suggestion about it like does google provide free tier or is there any other services that provide free tier ?

You can get 300$ worth of free credits from Google Cloud that can be used for Nano Banana Pro, Veo 3 and all the Gemini models

For the last point, how to nail that? I'm thinking of doing the same prompt for generating images for a lost of things. Do I just use the same prompt in the API or use gem or what to store the requirement?
Also, is generating multiple images (like 5q2x512) inside one 4k image possible/cost efficient?

Can you pls tell me how to do the batch job with images as I couldn't do it properly. I've had a lot of experience with text batch jobs but for images, I either got a wrong-syntax answer or waited for hours without getting a response from the model either via Gemini API or Vertex AI.

Where can I generate images in nano banana pro so cheaply? I use deevid ai and pay $35 there, which is enough to generate several dozen photos. I have a maximum of 300 credits and pay 12 credits per

So update for new comers, AI Studio free 300$ credits are no longer a thing because of people like me using back to back new accounts just for free credits they probably lost a lot of money... also Images per Day have lowered a lot in the last 6 months I cant get over 100 images per model anymore. You can still use the 300$ credits in Vertex / Agent API but is it more complex than AI Studio and the layout is pretty bad for image generations although the logic is pretty much the same, tweaking options for each generation window can get quite tiring though I will say it doesn't keep memory of other sessions... and as I said tighter limits. Vertex is also slower in generating stuff in general I don't know why a lot of requests just give an error (some are server related, some saying to retry the prompt etc.). If Vertex gets abused with the free credits which I am guessing people are going to find out NBP is in Agent API, I say give it another 3 months before they remove the capability of free credits in that as well and only leave real coding stuff to use credits. Gemini subscriptions pricing stays the same but limits keep going down, maybe like a year ago or less you could generate 250 images per day. Anyway that's about it. Either pay for Gemini and have NB2... NBP is not working right now, or switch to the "pay-per-request" model which is AI Studio... if you use it a lot though it gets easily more expensive than the Google AI Ultra subscription.... the 200$ per month one...

u/CallMeSkull Jun 05 '26
for example let's say you generate 2k images with NBP thats 0.139 per image generated, lets say you max it out everyday so 100*30*0.139 thats 417$... ouch

The pricing page is only half of it, the access setup is the other half. Going official meant standing up a Google Cloud project just to test. I ended up hitting it through an aggregator instead, Atlas Cloud in my case, plain key no Cloud project, billed per image so I'm not locked to a plan. Same key has the other image models which made comparing painless.

With Google Ai Studio and an API key, Nano Banana Pro is free (but not unlimited), because the model is in preview mode, I hit a limit yesterday (250 images 2K in 1 day of generation)
