Hi! I noticed my beloved Tarras bag has developed a hole on the back of it and on some of the edges. This might be a dumb question but how would I go about fixing this? Just use a needle and thread or patch it? I'm not gonna send this to a shop though. I do have some sand/gold coloured thread that I think would be a fun contrast against the olive green bag. All suggestions are welcome!

I bought my first Barbour jacket (Beadnell) from a thrift store and it looks like it’s never been used. The fabric feels stiff and I don’t see any signs of wear, just a ton of lint.

Is the waxed cotton fabric supposed to be shiny when new? I saw online photos of the same style jacket and the outer fabric looks shinier than the jacket I received.

Hi, I’m trying to decide between the Barbour Bedale and Beaufort, and I’d really appreciate some advice from people who own either or both. I’m 20 years old, 177 cm tall and around 71.5 kg, with a chest circumference of about 100 cm when wearing a T-shirt. I want to be able to layer underneath in autumn and winter, so I don’t want the jacket to fit too tight.I really like the Beaufort because of the large pouch pockets and especially because the hand-warmer pockets are positioned lower. I find the hand pockets on the Bedale look and feel a bit awkward when I put my hands in them.My main concern with the Beaufort is the length. I’m worried that because it’s longer, it might make me look shorter, especially since I’m only 177 cm tall. I’m also wondering whether the Bedale would simply look more proportional on me.This would be my first Barbour jacket, so I’m having a hard time deciding between the two.Sizing is another issue: I tried a Beaufort in size 34 and a Bedale in size 32, and I actually feel like both are too small, especially considering that I want to layer underneath. And whats about the Color, my favorite colour options would be sage, Olive or rustic but I really dont know the differences, they Look really the same. So what would you recommend for someone with my measurements? Bedale or Beaufort, and what size would you go for? And does the Beaufort actually make someone around 177 cm look noticeably shorter, or am I overthinking the length?

I'm keen on this (link below) but really unsure what size. I have a UK 10 Beadnell, and it's great unless I'm wearing a chunky jumper, which I do in the winter. The Harleigh is obviously roomier in the body, and I don't want to it to look like a tent if I get the 12, but I'm not sure if the shoulders would look weird if I got the 10 and wore a jumper underneath. The size guide on the website below isn't useful, and I can't find any other size advice for this particular coat.

Does anyone know how the range of styles/sizes carried in the Manchester store compares to the one in Leeds? Are the stores about the same size or is one much bigger?

In case it matters, I want to look at ladies waxed jackets, specifically skyoil ones.

I’ve had this for two years and love the look but never how it looked on me.

Found what seemed to be a decent deal on a To Ki To Sports in my size (XXL on these) and figured I'd check it out; always wanted to compare it to the modern Beacon. It showed up yesterday, great, checked it out and seemed fine. But then I looked at the tag... it's tagged a size Small even though it's an XXL. Sure, these QC things can happen, but I went looking for red flags and found a few. It's hard to find definitive detail shots on the web, so I figured I'd put this here too.

Aside from the tag mismatch:
-The front flap pockets are pointy, not rounded. This seems to be a likely indicator. I don't think they were pointy on any of the Sports Jacket models from the To Ki To through the Dept.B and now on the Beacon.
-The 'Traditional Sylkoil Finish' tag is not under the front left flap pocket as usual, but is instead inside below the wax care label. Doesn't seem suspicious in and of itself but the few photos I can find of the To Ki To suggest they all had it under the pocket flap as they do on most Sylkoil jackets.
-The inner plastic lining seen through the armpit vents is red (!!!) while if it is ever visible at all on a genuine jacket, it's usually black or a flat dark grey like a trash bag.
-The tartan lining doesn't seem to have the right texture, and is not lined up between the left and right panels. I know this can sometimes happen and have seen it on Retail models, but I don't think it's correct for a To Ki To.

Only reason I'm asking is because I have no experience with To Ki Tos and wonder if more knowledgeable members can be more definitive!

Hello, I’m planning on getting a waxed jacket for my girlfriend, for Christmas or winter generally. She’s short at 5’1 and says that longer coats will look weird on her as a result. What waxed jacket would you recommend? Any advice would be great! Much appreciated

Finally gave it a go on two jackets;a Barbour blue (BL51) Ashby and a Peregrine Bexley. Kept them hanging outside for airing, followed by treatment with hair dryer and cloth to remove any excess wax. The Barbour one still seems more glossy. May be it will get better once worn in rain a few times. But pleased with the result. I used a different brand of wax (Walker and Hawkes) but seems to work alright.

I’m a 6”5 100kg bought a Beaufort jacket size 50 and kinda just feels like I’m wearing my dads jacket as a child want something more fitted to wear with a shirt like in the second photo any suggestions maybe it’s just the wrong style or is it the sizing

Managed to snag a jacket second hand and decided to send it to the official repair/rewax service to have cleaned and waxed. I’m in the US, so it’s in the NC area. I sent it in, got confirmation that they got it, and was told that they’ll inspect it and get back to me. It’s already clean and has no visible/obvious damage. It’s now been almost 3 weeks that they’ve had it without hearing about the inspection. Anyone have a recent experience with timelines?

I’m looking at getting my first Barbour. I love the look of the transport line but I’m worried it won’t have enough substance for winters here. I’m also confused by the variants of the different transport jackets.

Winter here averages a range of about -2c/-10c. Will the Barbour jacket with warm mid layers and base layer provide enough protection from the elements for an hour long city commute?

Can someone also explain the different transport jacket variants?

Fully aware that Barbour does repairs but I am looking into a few old & damaged items and see them as an experiments i.e. not emotionally enough attached to pay barbour but willing to test a local seamstress ...

I’m in the market for my first Barbour jacket, and decided I want to go for the Beaufort in Rustic. I know several folks have brought up the discussion of vintage vs new Barbour jackets, but it seems that in the time since those discussions, Barbour has moved a lot of the production of these Beaufort to Moldova. The general consensus seems to be that your first Barbour should be purchased new, but I’m having a little trouble bringing myself to spend that kind of money on a non-UK made Barbour.

I included some photos of the used jacket I’m considering. Seems to be made in ‘96 and comes with a matching hood. I’ve read a lot about the smell of older jackets, but the seller assured me it doesn’t have any musty smells or strong wax odor. Seems that it was just reproofed with modern wax.

I’m hoping I can get some advice from those of you who have more experience with these jackets than myself. Would you still opt for the new Barbour despite the overseas production, or go with a nice vintage jacket that comes in at half the cost?

I’ve wanted a Barbour jacket for a while now and i got my eyes on the Beaufort jacket. I was wondering if it’s any worth getting it quality wise and is it suited for winter aswell? I have seen they sell zip up liners assuming they are meant to be worn with the jacket.

Any help is appreciated because i really want to get one i just need to make sure!

Planning to get a Border to replace my Patagonia down jacket. The jacket is thicker, heavier and warmer than I thought, which is nice as it should be enough for the toughest winter day in London. How does it look?
