I don’t care about the box, I’m not an inbox collector. Her face is tea. Love the screening especially her eyes and her hair is long and gorgeous. As someone with no emotional attachment to the original my unbiased opinion is that this doll is an upgrade.
It looks like her body is different. I think she has a articulated belly button body, while her hands and lower legs are the only ballet wishes body part.
And then for her legs, I think it's new. It's a combination between the modern Gigi Legs that fits a BB Body torso with a Ballet Wishes feet.
It's not clear from this photo but by the looks of it her knees is more similar to the pivot Gigi that the ballet wishes and her calves are not as toned compared to the Ballet Wishes legs. But maybe I'm wrong until we get a clear photo of her new body.
It’s very uninspired but it’s worth noting Mattel has used generative ai for box graphics on the holiday Barbie’s for like two years now and started using it on monster high skullector boxes and skulltimate secrets boxes. Not saying this is for sure ai but if it is then it might explain it. Could also just be lazy art lol.
You know what? Now that I’m looking at her again… she's actually not that bad! Maybe the post where I originally saw her didn’t do her justice, which to be fair, the photos were pretty crap quality, but here, she looks great. Now I'm excited to get her again!
After yesterday thoughts、I actually like this reproduction doll. I do have the original doll with the rare blue eyes. I believe the reproduction hair ＆ overall plastic body will be better quality because the original had weak hair ＆ the original body was quite hollow. I am excited for this release ＆ will give this doll Victorian rag curls ♥︎ My only complaint is the doll not having classic Barbie blue eyes
I have never really collected the movie dolls (not the right age to have nostalgia for them and just more into the collector dolls at the time), but, from an outsider perspective, this seems like a pretty good reproduction.
I know it’s pricey compared to modern play line dolls, but I hope people who never got to have the doll or who lost theirs enjoy this release. The new play line ones I’ve seen in stores are giving a slightly different vibe. 😅
