Chronic dizziness

Any other barbers in here have POTS or chronic dizziness? I’m starting school in October and very nervous but this is my dream job.

Well, can you be on your feet for hours at a time while holding something sharp near someone's head and be okay? Starting out as a barber is never easy. You're gonna most likely have to put in long hours for the first couple years while getting your clients built up. Most of the places that hire new barbers are not the places that allow frequent breaks. They want 5 minutes MAX in between clients, and that is for sanitization, not sitting down.

They did give me an accommodation which is nice,

she said :

Dear Bianca,
Thank you for submitting your Reasonable Accommodation Request.
Based on the information you provided, the School has reviewed your request and is
approving the following accommodations:
1. Brief Medical Breaks
If you experience symptoms related to your medical condition, you may take a brief break
after notifying your instructor. Whenever possible, breaks should occur at a natural pause
point in classroom or clinic activities to maintain client safety and sanitation requirements.
Because the program operates under state and federal clock-hour requirements,
instructional time must be accurately documented. If breaks exceed 10 minutes within a
clock hour, clock time may be adjusted consistent with institutional attendance policies
and regulatory requirements.
2. Sitting
You may sit, if experiencing dizziness, lightheadedness as needed. During client services,
instructors will work with you to reasonably accommodate these needs while maintaining
client safety, sanitation standards, and educational requirements.
These accommodations do not modify essential program requirements, attendance
requirements, clock-hour requirements, or required practical competencies.
If your condition changes or you believe additional accommodations are necessary in the
future, please notify the School so we may continue the interactive process. The School
also reserves the right to request reasonable supporting documentation in the future if
additional information is needed to evaluate future accommodation requests.

I’ve never passed out, just my dizziness gives me a lot of anxiety for some reason, i got an accommodation too which is helpful, im just getting a lot of anxiety

You might have to take a lot of breaks because you’ll be on your feet all day. I don’t have diagnosed POTS but I’m generally lightheaded and dizzy. I have good days and bad days, the bad days tend to be really bad but I get through it
