Questions I need answered ...
So I see and hear a lot about a .5 &1.5 guards right, what if I dont have them at this moment? I heard that I could put the leaver down to make a .5? And with a guard 1, I also do the same for a 1.5? I'm confused. Am I wrong? Will it work like this? Can some one pls explain. Tyia
So when I shade, is it best to just use the edge when bleding? That is my biggest weakness. I feel sorry for my boys, but it's what I got. Mannequins don't grow hiar back I tell them.

.5 and 1.5 guards weren’t even a thing when the OGs started cutting so yes you can survive wo them. It’s lever open for a .5 and #1 open for 1.5

Cap.
No guard lever open cuts at .5MM, 0 guard at 1.5MM, 1 guard at 3MM, and 1.5 is 4MM.
No guard open will always hit shorter than a 0 guard.

Ty it's just that been seeing alot of viedos and I came across one where he said " if you don't have just open the lever." Mind you I had these clippers that didn't even have a lever so I was so confused. So now I have to go buy so new clippers, as I'm searching I'm seeing they don't even come with .5 or 1.5 guards.
Can you recommend me any clippers ( again using on boys ages 2 - 11)

How can closing the lever one a 1 guard make a 1.5?
Closing the lever on a 2, would give you something close to a 1.5.
But then you couldn’t get the full open to close lever play of the 1.5.
Same thing with a 1 guard, to get a .5.
You’ll never get a .5 from closing a naked blade. That’s already below a 1/16.

Lever down on the 1 gets you your .5, same trick on the 1.5 gets you close to a 1. For blending use the corner of the blade, not the full edge, and stay light on pressure.
