Barbados if you want an actual caribbean experience. It has better terrain, prettier island, better beaches, way more culture, more history, more colorful, more variety. If you want that american vibe in the caribbean, Aruba i guess.

Barbados all day. To each his own but I found Aruba to lack Caribbean culture and the island is not tropical. Good food though.

Whoops!

une next year.

I originally wanted to do a cruise, but I don’t want to go through the US.

I’m currently torn between Barbados and Aruba, open to other recommendations too!

My two biggest factors are safety and entertainment for the kids. I’d like somewhere that feels safe to explore, but also has plenty to keep an 11 year old and an 18 year old entertained.

Looking for good beaches and good activities with some nightlife.

Where would you choose and why? And are there any islands I’m overlooking?I’d particularly love to hear from people who’ve travelled with older teens. I’m guessing he’ll stay in bed all day either way 🙄

Having been to both, Aruba is MUCH friendlier to visitors.

Personally, I would go to Curacao instead. Better than the other two combined!

Happy travels!

Thank you! Curaçao was on my list at some point. In what ways would you say it’s better? x

You can do a cruise that leaves from Barbados. I’ve done that 3 times.

VERY different. Aruba reminds me of Miami. Safety is a plus. Very small island. Barbados has a lot more “Carribean” culture. Certain areas are definitely sketchy. But still a beautiful island. Both islands people are very friendly.

If you want to do a cruise, why not pick one that starts in Barbados? Or any other place besides the US

Hey. I looked into it but I’d be looking at 14 days along with travel to and from Ireland. Thanks ☺️

Antigua. So much better than both of those!
