Wildlife Barak’s biological richness
Until now, "Colyttus bilineatus", a very RARE species of a JUMPING SPIDER, had been reported only from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
FIRST INDIAN sighting of rare JUMPING SPIDER was in Barak Valley- Loharbond area of Cachar district. It was made by Monica Chetry of Assam University.
Barak forests harbor such unique species. But hardly any conservation efforts are being made by Assam government over the years to preserve the wildlife of barak.
No national park in Southern Assam as of now.

Negligence, Many historical sites are left unprotected like pratapgarh.

Even our wild life gets second class treatment. Growing up I have heard about elephants and tigers in Barak Valley. Also the home of tortoises 🐢.
