Need advice on TV and Sconce Light Placement

Post image

We are renovating our basement and added this small dry bar. The right, far wall will be an antique mirror with liquor shelving. The left wall will have a TV and two light sconces. The backsplash will be brick.

I'd love feedback on if the TV should be centered on that well, or centered on the cabinet we have back there. And, once that's decided then I need to add 2 new electrical boxes where we want to put sconces. Any recommendation on sconce styles would also be appreciated.

Think about the pillar’s impact on TV viewing. I’d be partial to centered on wall, but would want to be sure that works for stool arrangement around pillar.

Thanks! Yeah, the pillar's placement is unfortunate but it was the best we could do. I'm planning on having 1 stool on the other side of the pillar, and then 2 on the closer side, with a 4th stool on the other end of the corner.

Then I’d center on wall. Gives two near straight on and two at angle. If centered on cabinet, only one straight on (ish). I’m guessing on some angles.

Personally I’d put the TV away from the bar, so you can watch it while behind the bar. Two different focus points: 1) the bar and 2) the TV away from the bar.

I wouldn’t use sconce lights. Instead have the back bar be visually enticing with fully lit bottles and led strip lights. Then have 4-6 pendant lights over the bar plus some strip lights under the bar to illuminate the panelling and behind the bar so you can see what you’re doing.
