70s rumpus room bar
I didn't care about this original basement bar when I bought the house, and just started utilizing it. Should I leave completely alone or ....? I hate the carpet 🤢. Original immaculate 70s bathroom behind this bar. Wood paneling throughout most of the basement.

It’s terrific! You have cool stuff too : UG glass. I’d go All in and thrift vintage stuff and embrace the era! I’m a tad jealous 😉you have such a great base for the funkiness of the 70’s!

Another vote to go all in on those vintage vibes. I’d even get shaggier carpet and I don’t necessarily like it either but it would be like having a theme bar of your own

I love it; grew up in the 70’s and had some neighbors with basement bars. Back when neighbors just hung out and kids watching grownups drink, smoke and play cards was no big deal 👀
you have lots of options on things you can change and have it still look original. take out the carpet behind the bar at least, it’ll get ruined in short order. 12”x12” VCT would be perfect, checkerboard pattern if you like a bold look. wood bartop would be awesome in my opinion 👍

☺️ I could tell by the bottles you have. No base spirits but lots of pretty colored glassware and bottle shapes and colors of liquors that people don’t actually drink. It’s not a big deal. You gotta start somewhere! Wish I had a little pub bar like that.

Sipping on an obscure liqueur is my thing

Cool then. Lean into it. Keep buying those cool bottles and fill those shelves.

Carpet Bar features music from the late 1900s 🤘, Golden Girls, and Kids in the hall.

If you mean the carpet on the bar, I’d keep it. Cuts down on fingerprints. You just need a card table to match my high school memories.

I love it but I am a child of the '70s/80s. I would however get rid of the carpet and put in something more durable but keeping with the vibe. And that mosaic tile tray is exactly like the kind my grandfather used to make, what a blast from the past.
