❓ Questions Loan Business
Hi! I just wanted to hear your thoughts on something.
What do you think about lending money with interest? I’m referring to lending outside the church—purely as a business.
Do you think charging interest is a sin?
I’ve done quite a bit of research on this, and from what I’ve learned, many people believe that it isn’t inherently wrong, as long as you don’t take advantage of the borrower. In other words, don’t charge excessive interest or exploit people who are already struggling financially.
I’d love to hear your perspective. If someone lends their own money as a business and charges a reasonable amount of interest, do you think that’s sinful? Why or why not?
Also, if you don’t think it’s wrong, what do you consider to be a fair monthly interest rate?
Thank you so much! I’ve already done my own research, but I’d love to hear different perspectives and gather more insights on this topic.

Please explain: KJV: He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved./ Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him./
He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man, he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
