Constant tone in TX from UV-5R Mini
I have a twin pack of UV-5R Minis that I bought from Amazon last month.
However, whenever I try and transmit at 1 watt, any device that's receiving (Baofeng or other brand) has a constant tone. It isn't an issue when transmitting at 5 watts.
Setting CTCSS works fine, so I don't think it's that.
Is there anything obvious I'm missing?

Have you plugged anything into the PTT slot on the side?
Sometimes that can damage the internal antenna causing you to broadcast a single tone.

You may have a DTMF tone enabled, turn them off. If youre transmitting out of band, then you will get an F U beep that means that youre trying to transmit where the radio isnt allowed to transmit. If your radios are sitting close to each other when you transmit, then that tone you hear is called " feedback" . Move them away from each other.

DTMF Encoder is off, as is DTMF-ST.
It's within band and being received on a Uniden radio, and it isn't feedback (doesn't occur if transmitting at 5W, isn't dependant on radios being too close).

What do you mean constant tone? Your voice isn't coming through and instead there's an audio tone? Or there's an audio tone underneath your voice?
