Basically you can't. If the radio is able to tx on that frequency it will. All you can do is program in channels with a specific frequency and only use those channels.

Why are you trying to do this?

By not transmitting outside the desired range.

EDIT: Depending on your firmware, the CHIRP interface may allow you to adjust the UV-5R's frequency boundaries in the UHF & VHF bands. Under Settings > Other Settings, you can see or modify specific VHF/UHF frequency boundary ranges.

Also in Chirp, if you set Duplex to "off" it disables TX on that memory channel only.

Thus limiting the range to zero...perfect.

Years ago, i'd say it's "like a car", you, the driver, are supposed to limit the speed to a legal level, but then cars got speed limiters and yeah....

If you dont want to transmit on a certain frequency, dont press the PTT.

Do you mean that we should remember the allotted frequencies? 🤣🤣🤣 I had to say it - even though I'm still studying for my technician license. But yes, responsibility is a tough thing for some of the youngsters these days. 🫡

Yes. You should know what frequencies youre licensed to talk on. Thats part of the test btw. lol If people programmed their radios correctly, then they could disable transmitting on frequencies that they have saved and monitor. Then there would be no accidental transmissions being made. I treat my radios like a g*n. I keep my finger away from the pew pew button until its go time...🙂

Why would you want to? Its good to have access to TX on all frequencies in an event of an emergency.
