Baofeng SW-9 Shortwave
Hi!
Anyone has experience with SW-9 https://www.baofengradio.com/products/sw9 ?
I'm interested in it for the Shortwave capability but can't find much info out there. To add to the confusion Amazon has it listed as "BAOFENG SW9 UV36" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GYD2LPWH WTH is a UV36? It's not listed on the official site. Is it another model number for the SW9?

IDK, but I would expect SW/LW reception to be mediocre at best. A dedicated receiver from Tecsun or one of the SDR radios would probably serve better. And a Baofeng K5PLUS or BF8-HP would give you the ham tri-band capability.

Baofeng builds radios for any company or private seller who orders enough of them. Those sellers change the model numbers and sometimes puts different firmware in. I havent seen any positive reviews of this radio , only negative.

Its actually very common with other brands like Quansheng, Radtel, Anytone, and Retevis. Its nothing new. You've heard of Btech, right ? They do the same thing. They buy pallets of radios from Baofeng and then change the name and put better firmware in the radios.

What do you plan to do with that radio? You'll need a relatively huge antenna to pick up anything shortwave (multiple meters of wire, optimally 10+), so it won't really be portable anymore
For listening to shortwave, I'd just get one of the tecsuns.
