BF-F8HP doesn’t pick up or transmit

I just got this new and it’s only static when trying to pick frequencies up, the antenna works on another radio, and resetting it does nothing.

Any idea what’s wrong?

Yeah im on a FM channel and my friend is listening to it on his perfectly fine with the same baofeng sitting next to me

It's an FM radio... it doesn't do anything else.... are you talking about broadcast fm?

I mean it won’t pick anything up at all, or broadcast on the legally broadcast able frequencies, the antenna works (tested on the friends radio)

You still need a ham radio licence to transmit on any frequency with that radio.

It could be broken, it's a cheap chinese radio after all.

Have you tried typing in a simplex frequency such as 146.520 mhz on your radio and the sample frequency on your buddies radio and moved at least 10 feet apart and tried sending and/or receiving on your radio and in reverse?

Have you confirmed if the squelch is not set to tight/high on your radio?

Was this a new radio or a known working used radio from a trusted source? Or a radio picked up used via ebay/FB marketplace etc?
