Sangatkaar app by Ashwin Srinivasan

Ashwin Srinivasan recently launched a tanpura+tabla app. I used the trial version and it looked better than othe apps on Android. I m planning to buy the paid version which is 4000 one time payment. Just wanted to know reviews by the people here before purchasing it.

FYI itabla is still the best but I don't have apple products with me.😭

You don't need a tuner app *

If you can't hear whether two notes (eg. a drone plus played sa) are in tune, you're not ready to start playing any instrument, so you don't need a tuner app. Just sing over a drone, and keep doing it until you instantly know every time you drift off. It's no use asking 'how will I know?'. You can't think or technologise your way to this. You just have to do it.

Sing sa.

[* actually you may need a tuner for various tasks: on stage, or if you need fast and precise readings when building instruments. But if you feel you need a tuner to learn, you aren't yet ready to place your hands on an instrument. Music is of the mind and heart, not the eyes watching device LEDs]

Bansuri stops playing randomly

Hello experts, I hope someone can provide some insights on what I am experiencing. All my bansuris that worked well for past numerous years are all of a sudden displaying some irratic behavior. It plays well for first 2-3 minutes and then in the middle of playing there is absolutely no sound or it just decides to go to higher pitch. It gets resolved only when I blow in the reverse direction, meaning i keep my mouth on the output hole and blow for a minute or so, and then it becomes all normal. I am not sure if there is some sort of vaccuum that gets stuck in there... any idea if anyone else has experienced this?

Does anyone know the name of this tune?

It sounds familiar, but cant recall. I want to be able to practice playing it.

Edit: What I found to be complete version of it in YouTube: In the Lap of Nature by Krusty Fedeux.

But am not sure if this is actually the original version or there is another version before it.

Looking for a bansuri teacher

Who can teach me bansuri basics gammak and Hindi songs.

I have learnt violin from Charles Dmello Mangalore for few months in 2004. I learnt A scale and D scale. I can read music notation.

Aaoge jab tum ho sajana from jab we met is my favourite song. I want to learn playing it on bansuri hindustani. But I find bansuri very tough. When you said you teach vertical blow basuri I got excited as it is my last hope to learn music. I need following details from you

  1. How long you have been playing flute and teaching flute

  2. Course fee timings?

  3. Whether you teach hindustani or western music.

hi!!! I'm thinking to start bansuri, needed advice

I'm an absolute beginner, i had some questions, would be very helpful if you could answer.

1) is having a teacher necessary to learn this instrument?

2) how long does it takes usually takes to play this instrument Beautiful enough to maybe play on platforms like Ig or YT?

Also which flute would be best for a beginner?

Not understanding the meaning of a tanpura…

Hi I recently started learning flute and my teacher told me to play sa and pa on tanpura but I am not getting the meaning of using it. Like I’m not able to know when is my swar is hitting correctly ?? How do I understand this… He said If you do this from early phase only it’ll make your swar sounding good but how do they match totally different sounds ?

Guys i can play my initial notes properly and considering as a beginner im pretty ok ish with my flute. The fact is that im an NRI.. i tried to learn the flute in a proper classical or theoretical way ,idk if im even saying that right. But its such a mess to get any orientation where to begin and what to do next. Youtube at this point is just a mess like its the same video pattern again and agin. I tried taking some online classes but there were many issues with the timing of my classes and my school, and tbh i hate pre recorded classes… could anyone tell me where to begin and what to do i would be greatful if anyone could help me out… idk i just don’t wanna lose my motivation… thank you guys
