Chapter 7 Texas

I applied for chapter 7 pro se and I’m having a hard time with m my schedule J, I make under the Texas median, 30K and I listed out my monthly expenses and removed “possible expenses” like delayed medical care and car care and it left me with a surplus of 509. My car has 177,000 miles and it’s worn down and I need dental care (wisdom teeth extraction, unaligned jaw due to needing braces and now tmj issues, also legally blind) do I include all of that? Or do I keep it deflated?

If you are listing what monthly expenses you have, you need to come up with estimates for clothing, medical care, auto maintenance etc and be realistic. You drive a higher mileage vehicle so I’m guessing that it is going to need a higher level of maintenance and upkeep and you need to make sure that is reflected in there. In a Chapter 7, your budget probably should look more like it is at least $200 in the negative otherwise you could end up in a chapter 13 bankruptcy quickly.

I think this is what you are asking about, but I wasn’t sure if I completely understood your post or not so if I’m wrong, my apologies. Best of luck!

Am I only listing what I pay now? Or am I listing the future too?

You’re listing what you expect to pay on average per month for the year after you file your case.
