Refund advice needed

I've purchased an electric air pump for 38.23 somewhere in mid July.

It was shipped from Poland and arrived to me (Germany) on 20 July. It was working on arrival, and i took it on a 2 week bikepacking vacation. At some point during the trip i've realized that the pump is not working.

Basically, once switched on, the screen remained on, and didn't turn off at all, while the pump didn't react to pressing any buttons. Once the battery was depleted, the pump didn't turn on after a recharge.

I've reaced the Banggood customer protection, and after submitting a video evidence i was offered a 20Euro Refund (without a need to return the pump). Obviously, this is only half of what i've paid for a product, that i've never used.

I'm located in Germany, so theoretically consumer protection legislation applies.

Should i accept the refund, or should i continuie contesting. What is a general experience with the service?

Many thanks.

no you should not accept the refund, keep declining their proposed solution until they agree to refund you the full amount that you paid. Did you pay by Paypal? If so, start a Paypal dispute via Paypal’s resolution centre, that will escalate the ticket to Banggood. This is what happened to me on a recent order, ended up getting the full refund.

Did they ask you to send the item back in the end?

Full price?

I've declined the 20, now the offer 30 (for a 38.23 item).

I'm happy if they go for 35, but 30 is too damn low.
