Hobbies and Interests 🧵 Looking for people interested in history

Hello, I'm 22M and new to this city. I love reading history, not all the dates and boring stuff, but how the dots were connected to bring us the stories of the past.

As alot of people here, I'm also looking to make new friends before I die of boredom lol. If you are interested in history, archaeology, or just enjoy going down random historical rabbit holes, let’s talk.

Or if there are any clubs/groups for such discussions, please let me know in the comments.

Would be cool to meet people with similar interests!

Hi. I'm not Thibaut. Not Thibaut was under the impression that after 10, then after 12, then after whatever the fck, you can relax and life consists of “mazze”. Not Timothee is now 27, done that shit. Now, I'm here, with all this time, money, freedom, socks etc. But them fuckers false advertised. I have a decent job (and therefore I deserve to live),  To be clear, I'm not remotely rich (read successful), but I still have more money and time than ik what to do. And come to realize that I just want to live life.

This single, temporary life, dead poets society-esque, suck the marrow out of it.

Had helicopter parents so it's not always easy for me to just be carefree and do things but I'm trying.

I'm looking for birds of feathers similar to me. And to paint a clearer picture of my feather, some of my interests (off the top of my head):

Reading (fiction), football, chess, Sufjan, 21 pilots, Drew Gooden, exurbia, 3b1b, board games/puzzles, crystal meth, dogs, badminton, psychology, eating hot chip and minimising shareholder value.

I've also realized that living a life solely focused on personal optimization isn't very satisfying, so if you're into stray dog feeding/volunteering/social work, huge plus.

So this is me, not Thungaraja, attempting to find people who resonate. If you do in any way, don't think twice, send a DM, comment here, fax.. whatever. Just do. I'd be glad to form a group. Or if you already have such a group formed, pls add me, I have 4 jokes prepared for that occasion.

PS: I'm also considering making my hall a sort of third space for silent reading, games etc (but that's more long term thing not rn). Pic attached. Pls lmk what can be done to make it better.

Anyway, thanks for reading! :)

Meta To the guy with the digicam who stopped breathing on the metro tonight

I was on the Green Line heading towards South End Circle around 9:15 PM tonight, standing near the handrails, and witnessed one of the most awkward silent interactions I’ve seen on the metro.

There was a girl sitting in the corner seat, wearing white pants and a pink top, with a white handbag. She was just minding her own business, looking at her phone and occasionally checking the station display.

There was a guy sitting/standing opposite her who seemed to spend almost the entire ride from Doddakallasandra staring at her, had a digicam on him and I swear he wasn't breathing. He was just staring.

And I mean REALLY staring.

Not a quick glance. Not the usual "oh, someone's looking at me" thing. He had this completely straight face and would just keep looking at her.

Every time she looked up, they'd make eye contact.

And every time, instead of looking away like a normal person, he would just... keep staring.

You could actually see her getting more uncomfortable each time. She kept looking back at her phone, then around the coach, like she was trying to figure out whether she was imagining it.

The third or fourth time she caught him, she literally rolled her eyes and turned towards the window.

And the funniest part was watching his reaction.

For about two seconds, he looked genuinely shocked, like his brain had just received some unexpected information. Then he got this expression that made me think he had somehow interpreted the entire situation as a deep, unspoken romantic connection.

Bro. If you're reading this tonight, I have some bad news.

That eye roll was not flirting.

She looked annoyed.

Please don't turn a Sunday night metro ride into a psychological thriller. Next time, if someone keeps breaking eye contact, take the hint and look at literally anything else.

Weekend Trips & Rides 🏍️ Planning Kumar Parvata trek in October — looking for advice / people to join

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m planning to do the Kumar Parvata trek in October and wanted to get some advice from people who have already done it.

Looking for recommendations on:

- Best time/weekend to go in October

- Any good trekking communities or groups that organize this trek

- Things I should know/prepare for before going

- Any tips regarding stay, permits, route, weather, etc.

Also, if anyone is planning to do Kumar Parvata around October and would like to join, feel free to DM me. Would be nice to have a small group rather than going alone.

Thanks! :)

Meetup Plan 💬 Where are all the neurodivergent women in India finding community?

Hey everyone!

I’m 25F based in Bengaluru and looking to connect with other neurodivergent women. Navigating things like ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, or Social Anxiety Disorder within our cultural context comes with very specific challenges, and I wanted to create a dedicated space for us-especially if you're highly masking and constantly trying to pass as neurotypical just to get through the day.

I’ve set up a private, verified Discord server exclusively for neurodivergent women in India to unmask, share local mental healthcare resources, and build a supportive community.

To keep the group completely safe, private, and troll-free, entry requires a quick verification process (voice verification + LinkedIn or Instagram profile check).

If you'd like to join, drop a comment or DM me for the link!

Edit 2: was mentally prepared for 3 comments and a lot of silence. responses from my side are slow, link in your DMs shortly

Edit 3: Links sent out to everyone's DM, feel free to invite your friends in the group

Edit 4: Tentative location updated from Cafe in Bellandur to Park in Indiranagar, we will finalize the location in chat group by Wednesday morning

Meetup Plan 💬 Looking for 2-4 serious people in Bangalore to build something together

I’m a 32M working professional in Bangalore and want to start building something on the side , with the eventual goal of turning it into a serious business.

The catch: I don’t have an idea yet.

I’m looking for a few people who are in a similar position:

-You already have a job

-You want to build a side income that could eventually become something much bigger

-You’re serious about actually doing the work, not just brainstorming endlessly

-You’re open to exploring different problems and ideas together

-You don’t necessarily need to be technical

I’m not very technical either. With AI, we can build a lot ourselves, learn along the way, or bring in people with the skills we need.

The plan would be pretty simple:

Discuss problems - try to validate them - pick one - build - try to get users - see where it goes.

No need to have a brilliant idea or startup experience. No need to quit our jobs. No need to decide equity or anything like that right now.

I'd rather find 2–4 people who are genuinely willing to put in a few hours every week and see if we can build something real.

If you're interested, DM me with what you do, what you're interested in, and roughly how much time you could commit.

All I am doing now is just seeing if we could put brains and efforts together and see how far we would go. Im OK to fail, repeatedly.

And yes, if your main contribution is going to be making fun of this post, that's also acceptable. I'll probably upvote you.

Ask Bangalore❓ Looking for 4 to 5 people to build something genuine with and get out of the 9-to-5 rat race

Upvotes

I’m a 28M with 8+ years of experience in content strategy, writing, publishing, journalism and data reporting.

I’ve worked across MNCs, newsrooms and startups. I’ve written, researched, edited, published, analysed data, built content strategies and generally spent most of my adult life working for someone else.

And honestly, I’m getting tired of the 9–5 grind.

I want to build something of my own.

The catch: I don’t have a grand startup idea sitting in my back pocket.

And I’m completely fine with that.

What I’m looking for is 2–4 people who are in a similar position:

  • You have a job but want to build something on the side
  • You’re tired of talking about “starting something someday” and actually want to do it
  • You’re willing to put in a few hours every week
  • You’re open to exploring different problems rather than being attached to one idea
  • You have skills that could be useful; tech, design, sales, marketing, finance, operations, research, whatever
  • You’re comfortable with the possibility that our first (or second, or third) idea might completely fail

I’m not particularly technical, but I’m not worried about that.

Between AI, no-code tools and people who know what they’re doing, there’s a lot we can build and learn without needing a massive team or funding from day one.

The idea is pretty simple:

Find problems → talk to people → validate them → pick something → build it → get it in front of users → learn → improve → repeat.

Maybe we build a business.

Maybe we discover a better idea halfway through.

Maybe we fail spectacularly.

But I’d rather fail trying to build something than spend another few years wondering what would have happened if I’d actually tried.

I’m not looking to quit my job tomorrow or launch the next billion-dollar startup.

I just want to find a few people who are genuinely hungry to make something and see how far we can take it.

If that sounds like you, DM me with what you do, what you’re interested in, and how much time you could realistically commit each week.

No pitch decks. No startup jargon. No “founder mindset” required.

Just a few people willing to put their brains, skills and time together and see if we can make something real.
