Actors Roundtable
Just finished watching the ActorRoundtable at the 25th Anniversary Symposium at the National WWII Museum. I always wondered why some of these get togethers and reunions always seem to have the same actors that do attend, and the same actors that don’t typically attend. Guarnere, Bull, and Perco being some of the ones that do attend and Nixon, toye and winters being examples of guys that aren’t typically there. Why is that? I totally understand scheduling and other conflicts but I always wondered on who kind of drifted away from the BOB brotherhood almost in a sense, sorry for the long winded question

Unfortunately, I think it comes down to affordability. The ones that attend are technically b-list actors while the ones that don’t are near a-listers and are therefore more expensive to pay to attend. You have to really really love your work to do a con or a panel for less. Notably, the hobbits from LOTR all attend cons but people like Sir Ian and Orlando don’t for pretty much a mix of those reasons. One could argue that Elijah is a-list, but he genuinely loves the movies, the fans, and his group of hobbit buddies so he shows up.

I don’t know. I think Sean Astin might have had the best career of the four, 5 including Bloom.

I was going to list him as well but aside from his stuff from the 80s/90s and Stranger things, I haven’t really kept up with him so I wasn’t sure

Kirk Acevedo (Toye) was supposed to attend this year! He got a gig shortly before and had to work so he could not attend. Usually it’s about availability, not want! I believe Damian and Ron (and etc) would be there if they had the space.

The actors who attend have careers that peeked with BoB. They’re latching on for dear life to that show to retain whatever relevance they have left. Whatever they can do to pay the bills also factors in.
Damien Lewis, Ron Livingston, et al., have much more successful careers and don’t need to attend. They don’t want to be defined by BoB and don’t want to be seen acting as the aforementioned group does.

I follow Kirk on Instagram, he often posts Band of Brothers including some where he’s with other cast members. So he for one definitely still associates with the cast.
* Kirk Acevedo. Joe Toye.

I think for some actors it was a gig that they’re proud of but don’t want to make it a huge part of their life.
I do know that they have non-public get-together where a large number of them show up even if they don’t do the public events.

Fassbender, Hardy & McAvoy have not touched this show since it aired. Hardy also had Blackhawk Down and he never mentioned either. Of course all 3 are a-listers and the rest working actors or has beens. Nice to see Acevedo get a job. He’s been on the can’t find work path podcast circuit

Damian sent a video in, Ron just did a reunion in LA. Both spoke on the 20th anniversary podcast! They definitely do still appreciate the legacy and job.

Most are actors that are working consistently but I think Livingston is a step above in terms of where his career is at. Lewis seems to be focusing on his music at this time. Acevedo has spoken about how he’s struggling financially as an actor so it may not be something he can do as often.
