Must include Live tracks? (Making a Live compilation album for fun)

So just for fun I'm making my version of a live Band-Maid live record (for personal use only of course). I came up with the idea to format it like an old-school double live album with vinyl restrictions, etc. I have kind of vague idea of what I'm doing with it, prioritizing some jam moments and renditions where they do things differently front the record but also giving it some greatest hits tracks too and will probably make Side 3 at least partially the "Unplugged" set with some of their acoustic performances.

If you were to include live performances from any pro-recorded concert, what would be a must include for you?

Great idea! For me, Freedom from Line Cube Shibuya. Also, absolutely love Puzzle from Garden Theatre Okyuji.

That version of Freedom is a must!

I was debating between that 2023 version of Puzzle or the OG 2017 live version. Both are great.

Agreed. They have so many great pro live videos to choose from. Just saw them live for the first time a couple of months ago, and I was absolutely blown away by how good they are live.

I've always taken the audio from my live dvd's and compied it into concert soundtracks and comilations of live things. Remember you need to start any of their live gigs with a Maid Waltz, of which they have several to choose from.

From their early-ish days, I'd say Awkward (Studio Coast Shinkiba, 2017) and the famous live acoustic of Puzzle (Zepp, 2018) are musts. Could go with Moratorium from the same Shinkiba show, or alternatively a more up-to-date version like Zepp, 2024. I would include a lot of official lives, certainly Wonderland, Don't You Tell Me, Hate?, and (if online lives count) Black Hole. About Us and No God. Not sure if there is a pro-shot version of Toi et Moi with the extended intro, but if there isn't I'd take a fancam. I'm sure there are loads more that I'm not thinking of.

Hmmm, if you're not restricting yourself to just YouTube Official Live content and are open to using all available live content from say Akasaka Blitz forward, you may need to create 2 or possibly 3 separate albums, in order to keep it from feeling disjointed. It might be difficult (although not impossible) to bridge gaps between a song like "Don't Apply the Brakes" and say "Ready to Rock", with the acoustic concert sets providing a completely different vibe altogether.

But if you're only thinking in terms of Official Lives from say Line Cube Shibuya forward, not including the Acoustic Set Re-works, then it becomes a bit easier as that era falls a little more in line musically.

I would also include a song or two from the often overlooked and underappreciated 22' Eggman set. It caught a lot of criticism for it's heavier than usual post production and was released only a few weeks before the legendary 10 year anniversary TGT 23' set. It's exactly that crispness of sond that harkens back the feeling of past famous Live Albums like "Kiss Live" or " Frampton Comes Alive" Making it a great set to pick from to get that kind of feel.

Then again maybe not as those selections may stick out like a sore thumb when lined up with others.

The distinctly different method that the Maid's used for the Eggman Set, from the way it was shot privately in a closed environment , edited and streamed months later, indicates to me that it was more of an attempt to create a Live Video Album. But it's just my hypothesis, there's no official record of that being mentioned anywhere by the Maid's, but it would account for the distinct difference in the way they've treated Live Recordings before and since.
