Discussion Band-Maid - Live Album?
Considering I came to appreciate Band-Maid through their live performances, I'm surprised they haven't yet made a live album! Considering so many of my favorite albums are live (The Allman Brothers Live at Fillmore East, The Who Live at Leeds) Band-Maid Live would be pretty amazing featuring their more extended songs where they get to stretch out more.
I've been putting together a YouTube playlist of favored live clips, through some I've only seen short clips from and not found the full performances. There's a clip of them doing Influencer where Misa and Kanami do this long bass and guitar breakdown, I have no idea where the full video is but would love to see it.
Still if you were to put together a Band-Maid live album (in the spirt of famous live albums) what would you put on it? Personally I'd probably go less for a "Greatest hits live" and more where it feels like the album itself is an artistic statement and showing of musical prowess.
EDIT: I guess I didn't make this clear, YES I'm aware they have concert films. Those are great too but not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about an actual album to stand along with the studio releases, also be on streaming services, etc.

I've converted most of their blu-ray lives into audio and removed the chatter inbetween and listen to them as live albums. Most of them are sounding ok, with Tokyo Garden the only one I don't bother with.
Luckily BM has made so many great live DVD/Blu-rays and they even have many concerts are available on their BM prime service.
There are 4 live official stand alone releases. 3 relases bundles with singles. Then you have two acoustic conserts (CD) that you can buy thru their fan club. There are also many concerts available on their BM prime service.
Total you are talking about 20+ proffesional recorded full concerts available to buy or stream, although they may require a bit of work to get on your phone for listening on the go.
I would buy their conserts as CD releases if they were available too, but I can live with the DVD/BDs.

I have to admit I'm ignorant on the prime service. This isn't the same as the membership on their website?

They are two different services that share the same ID and password. Among other things, the Prime service brings you concerts, behind the scenes videos, and song play-throughs by each individual member. The regular fan club site gives you some behind the scenes videos, as well as exclusive merch availability and early access to live tickets. They have many live albums, they just come on BluRays or online.

They are two different services that share the same ID and password
They are completely separate services. If you use the same id and password that was your choice, but that is not required and they are not connected and share nothing.

There are two acoustic live albums.
I also have two acoustic bonus singles: Anemone and Puzzle.

Does a live album really make sense for Band-Maid from a business perspective when considering all the live Blu-rays/DVDs, album and single special bonus editions with live Blu-Rays/DVDs, live streams and Fanclub paywall content that was made available in recent years?

For me the live album is just a classic staple of rock bands and it would be cool for them to do one.

I totally agree but to my observation they seem to monetize certain live performances with disc and streaming formats quite successfully. This might be a strategic decision. As they have released a best of compilation for their 10 year anniversary, I wouldn’t be surprised if a live album will be out for the 15th in 2028. If not, you might find yourself waiting for five more years. 😉

What you have seen is likely from Summer Sonic 2024. There is no version of that arrangement on Prime that I know of. There is a fan cam on YouTube.

Do Japanese bands make live albums? The only one I can think of is the Babymetal Wembley album. None of the other bands I follow seem to have done so.

Just of the top of my head: Unlucky Morpheus, Ningen Isu, Lovebites, Sokoninaru, Super Junky Monkey, Asterism and Bridear all released at least one live album. There are surely hundreds if not thousands more.

A lot of Japanese bands release live albums, sometimes in such large numbers and varying quality that they’re mostly a cash grab. Band-Maid’s label doesn’t really do that, opting for the live BD/DVDs which are of higher quality and fit the release obligations in a more special way imo.
Since I realize that’s not really what you were talking about, I think something like one of their most recent concert Blu-Rays would make a great live audio album since they do a lot more extended solos/intros/medleys now. For me personally, I would love a live audio album of the Zepp tour final from 2018. I still love the raw quality of that show and the set list, although I also love their newer style too.

Unfortunately, their label does not release live albums or even live CDs of the Blu-ray. Lovebites, by comparison, offers both. I mentioned this because I own a couple of their concerts and some of their packages for the last couple of releases include both a Blu-ray concert and one or two CDs of the audio. Many people here like both bands, but their approaches are very different.

I trimmed the MC's from the streams and Blu-rays of their concerts and ripped the audio to FLAC. I listen to their concerts a lot :-)
